Can't tell you how much I loathe the fact that we really only get 4 months of the year that CAN provide true winter weather, and a good portion of that time is spent with rain and above average temps. I need to live in a place where at the very least the warm and cold seasons are an even balance.

Alternating bouts of snow and cold, followed by interludes of sunshine and 70*F temps...almost reminds me of a certain storied winter around these parts, one which our younger contributors might not have been around to witness first hand.  :whistle::baby:

REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT NEAR WASHINGTON DC SO FAR TODAY.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 70 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1991 AND 1890.

WEATHER RECORDS FOR THE WASHINGTON DC AREA HAVE BEEN RECORDED AT
WHAT IS NOW RONALD REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT SINCE 1941.
THE OFFICIAL WEATHER RECORD CONSISTS OF THAT DATA BACK TO 1945, AND
OBSERVATIONS TAKEN IN DOWNTOWN WASHINGTON FROM 1871 THROUGH 1944.
TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE WASHINGTON DC AREA EXTEND BACK TO
JANUARY OF 1872, WITH PRECIPITATION RECORDS EXTENDING BACK TO
JANUARY OF 1871 AND SNOWFALL RECORDS EXTENDING BACK TO JANUARY OF
1884.

ALL CLIMATE DATA ARE CONSIDERED PRELIMINARY UNTIL REVIEWED BY THE
NATIONAL CENTERS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION (NCEI)
