We should all pause for a moment to note that we are currently tracking a cold powder bomb that is trending better and also a potential big storm in the long range.  This is what weather tracking is all about.

A little pre-storm snow porn from Shawn James / My Self Reliance.

This is the guy that built his cabin, outhouse outdoor kitchen and now he is working on his sauna with only hand tools.  He is in central Ontario and it has been a very snowy year for him so far.

He puts up a new video every Friday and his channel is one of my favorites to watch while I drink my Saturday morning coffee!  Good stuff and extremely relaxing!!!!

Jeb, how do you like Texas? Are you adapting well and do you see yourself staying there for a long duration?

Well, I am adapting some. I have been down here in mild winter central for like 5 months now lol. I will likely visit back in N VA at times. I still have the Net down here, and am falling in love with EDM music lmao. These cowboy types are gonna think I am some kind of FREAK since I am more of a Washington DC type, than country western lol. But, I am adapting some.

You know what I miss the most?

MGM National Harbor. Man I LOVE Washington DC so much. Damn I miss that place. And, Arlington and Alexandria Virginia.

Woke feeling like I have been punched in the eyes over and over. Pressure headaches are real.

That’s right!  I have forgotten how many headaches I had in 2009-2010 and I swore it was due to the barometric pressure.  This morning I woke with one again. Or maybe it’s just from staring at too many weather maps!

Anyone have those CIPS analogs from a couple of days ago? Guessing they match the 12k pretty well.

I have them saved, at least the mean snow maps. The analogs were a mix of hecs and some more moderate storms like the January 2004 one with very few duds so they were trying to say this had more upside than guidance was giving it. That said the cips analogs won't see details specific to each setup. In this case the upper pattern was de amplifying more than most of those analogs. In the end a compromise between the analogs and what the guidance was showing ended up best and I've found that's often how it goes. If the guidance is way off it won't usually go all the way to the analogs but it usually trends towards them in the end.

Did we decide not to punt January?

Maybe you should come visit in the next couple of weeks so you can have a Jebwalk in the snow!

I think he's distraught over getting more than 2" and he's locked in the closet having a crippling panic attack

I will consider it, lol.

You guys still have a much bigger snow to come this winter.

The weather is changing very very quickly and you will see the impact of it, snow wise, this winter, and especially NEXT winter.

Point and click for Fredericksburg at this time is pretty much what I think for Dale City.

Whoever gets that CSI banding WILL jackpot.

Northern Virginia is in for a real midwinter treat.

Went to Wegman's this morning, not thinking about the snow.  Relieved to see that my neighbors have not forgotten how to panic, nor how to prepare for the mass incontinence caused by not being able to leave one's house for a few hours and/or excessive consumption of bread and eggs.  All 28 registers were going with long lines at each.  Among the busiest days I've seen since the store opened!

That’s funny, I had the complete opposite experience. Went to a Giant in Shrewsbury at 9, barely anyone there. Was home by 10.

I’m afraid to go there or the giant or Safeway.
