    Measured 7/8" in SSW Franconia/Kingstowne at 11:15am, with just a few flurries still coming down for now.

    Managed to measure around 1/8" (0.1") for my spotter report at around noon, Kingstowne/SSW Franconia.

    Fell asleep before the light snow stopped last night. Just measured 5/8" (0.6") at 7am for my storm total for Kingstowne (Franconia SSW).

    We went out for a walk about 5:10pm, and sleet had started mixing in. A neighbor invited us in for a drink around 5:40pm and the rain had started mixing in. Walking back a few minutes ago, it's pure ice -- a goodly amount of freezing rain (but my bush where I'd measure ice accretion was taken out in the time we were away).

    Very surprised to measure 2.25" (in multiple locations) here in Kingstowne at 5pm. Far exceeded what I thought I would get.

    Measured 0.5" at 5:45pm when I got home, SSW Franconia/Kingstowne, Fairfax County. Even accumulating on some sidewalks now (though not roads). I wasn't expecting anything (especially given the white rain I left in DC), so it was a nice surprise!

    First winter back in the DC area and in my current townhouse (2013-2014), we had the pipe to the rear hose bib burst not once but twice, flooding our basement. (Long story short -- rear shutoff was mislabeled.) Inadequate insulation in our late-1980s construction, among other issues. On the plus side, we got an insurance-funded new basement floor and paint job. On the minus side, our homeowner premium went up right away.

    It's only pork that I won't crutch if I'm not on a timetable. I always crutch a brisket (in pink butcher paper preferably). Dizzy Pig is well worth a visit; in addition to Egg supplies they have a good assortment of specialty wood and I really like their rubs. I almost never make my own anymore. DizzyFest (the local Eggfest) is coming up the first weekend in May and is a great event (plus you get 10% off that day).

    Did you wrap when you hit the stall (i.e., Texas crutch), or did you do the whole thing unwrapped? I don't think it makes as big a difference with pork as it does with brisket, but I will usually crutch if I'm cooking to a fixed time. Btw, be sure to check out Dizzy Pig in Manassas for your Egg needs (if you haven't already).

    You did slightly better with the sleet than I did -- only 0.8" here since I measured (and swept) with the sleet transition. Felt like rain when I was out. 1:05pm - 3.3" (2.5" snow, 0.8" sleet), SSW Franconia/Kingstowne, Fairfax County.

    Measured 0.4" of snow/sleet mix at 11:45pm, SSW Franconia/Kingstowne, FFX County. Wasn't paying close enough attention to know when it flipped to plain rain, so I probably lost a little bit.

    Heavier bands all seemed to stay to the north. Picked up around another 1/8" in the afternoon. Looks like 0.8" is my storm total for SSW Franconia/Kingstowne, FFX County.

    Finally went out to measure at 12:45pm (home & under the weather) for my spotter report: 5/8" (0.6") in SSW Franconia/Kingstowne, a little less than I expected but still a really nice event.
