December 8-10 Winter Storm Obs

Recommended Posts

Don’t feel bad for the Upstate. It was a good storm especially for early December. Greenville County has 2 to 10 inches of snow and sleet. I ended with 6 inches at my house. I’ll take that kind of snow storm any day of the winter!
Meh, it was the usual in the Western Upstate. Warm nose reared its ugly head. Glad to hear some others got snow though, especially RDU.

0.5-1 inch at best in Pendleton, mostly sleet. Need to learn to listen to the NAM's better resolution, FV3 Kuchera ratio betrayed me.

NAM also outperformed the HRRR, which is odd because the HRRR should have a better grasp on thermals, and especially considering that it is funded a lot higher than the NAM for R&D.

Thanks for the Charlotte reports - too bad it wasn't more snow, especially given the NWS forecasts of 6-10" up until yesterday evening.

Yeah, the NWS was on the bullish end. Brad Panovich (local met) nailed the forecast in my opinion, at least from I-85 and south.

Just took this. Same deck as in my Feb 2004 shots. Not near as much this time but closing in on 8".

I’ve seen your video several times. We were too far north in Surry County and didn’t get a flake.

I know that must have been something to see

We’re closing in on a foot and it’s still coming down real good. I’m 57 and I have never seen this much snow this early in the winter season.

We did get 11 in in Dec 18th 2009.

Just sleet/rain mix in Raleigh now.  Trees are getting real heavy and the wind isn't helping.  Luckily I still have my power, but Spectrum has gone out.

25/22 and still just freakin' RIPPIN' here in southern VA. All dry snow, medium flakes, winds of 8-15mph just an amazing system.

Measured 10" at 10am, gotta be 12-14" by now because it's been heavy snow ever since.

Just measured in SW Winston-Salem. Around 12.5" and still snowing, although it seems to be mixed with some sleet.

Same. I'd bet you and I are very close to one another.
