Snow amounts will range from 1 to 3 inches in the advisory area,
with around an inch to just below 2 inches further inland. The
advisory is in effect for more significant impacts to the
evening commute.

We were just talking about this a little while ago. They issued the advisory for impacts to the commute, even though the threshold is not being met...i.e. an average of 3" over a zone. 1-3" is below criteria but they did it for impact, should have just included the whole county instead of the southern part but either way, i still agree with it. This will be very harzardous, like yesterdays event was, with very cold temps during rush hour.

...Accumulating snow for the end of the evening commute...

Light snowfall will begin to overspread the region after 5 pm this
evening, increasing to a moderate snowfall especially along the
immediate south coast, Cape Cod and the Islands between 7 and 10
pm. Untreated roadways may become slippery.

At this time, areas of 1 to 3 inches of snow are expected along
the south coast, with a low risk for up to 4 inches. Areas up to
and just north of the Mass Pike may receive a coating to an inch.

Motorists are urged to use caution during this evening`s commute.

With that logic there should have been one yesterday. Anyways I don’t mind if they stretch the criteria a bit to drive home the point of slippery travel during evening commute.

Maybe they realized they should have done it yesterday based on the impacts that happened and thats why they put it up for this one?

I mean fine NW RI isn’t bad I guess....didn’t want to get into the whole “where is it the best for snow in NE” thing....all I was saying is there are places I would not want to be...mostly along the shore and that SE area.....West Hartford - for its location in the dreaded CTRV - has held its own many times.....sometimes I think that CTRV thing is overplayed.....elevation wise I have to defer to  you in WOR or DIT.....definitely on the wrong side there here in WH....

the ct river valley thing is insanely more prevalent up where I am in the epicenter of Death Valley, there have been dozens of storms over the recent decade that have crushed you guys relatively speaking

take away last feb, nemo and the 1/11-12/2011 event and the differences were noticeable to huge every single time and in those 3 events we really just kept up with the Jonses
