Mapping out the total (post-storm) is really going to be such a disaster with the wind and inconsistent reports. Definitely going to see some OMG FOUR FEEEEEET reports next to 18 inch ones.

Husband changed his Saturday morning flight into national to tomorrow morning. Then hears that the government is closing early. So it will still take him hours to get home but I suppose he at least has a chance to land, unlike Saturday at 10am. He is cursing the world though.

i wont be surprised to see a 3ft measurement from someone on this forum.

Your forum is at least in the sweet spot for this storm.

Who else is sleep deprived? I'm going home and drink a few glasses of wine, take a couple melatonin caps, and sleep for 10 hours.

Friday night sleep won't really be a thing, obviously

I'm planning to go XC skiing through Rock Creek Park Saturday morning during the height of this.  If anyone in the immediate area is interested I have some extra pairs of snowshoes.

I think we should call this storm Snowzilla.

I prefer SnowMalley - since this storm appears to be a disaster for the entire state of Maryland.

Every weather expert, which you and i are definitely not have said we should see higher than 10:1. Take it as you wish. No need to bicker over 5" difference like i just committed a violent crime.

For purposes of forecasting, I'd probably use 11:1 (climo) assuming no mixing.  We won't waste any QPF on the front end.

LULZ. Sorry it is 31". I was 2" off, so please have someone ream me out again like they are my mother when they are 10 years younger than me. The internet gives a lot of people perceived power that they don't have in real life.

I'm calling this storm Snowbolapocolypse because of the puking, barfing, crapping snow that will happen

But since he's not governor anymore...perhaps Snogan might be more appropriate!

Hogan isn't disastrous for the state. O'malley was. I think it was a political statement.

Between this and forecasting that damn gradient in CT, I'm barely alive.

Haven't been to the other board lately, has Nik posted his chances of death?

I'm with Matt, I'd use climo.  Mote did a study fo snow across Nebraska and foudn that the really high ratios usually do not occur with the really big ones because the snow on top of the earlier snow compacts it.  You might get fluff on the top but compress teh bottom so it's less tha 10-1.

Well, not to get too much into it, but with the "R" party in that space now I think that's more of a disaster!  Just my political opinion.  Not that O'Malley was great, mind you.

ETA:  Now mind you, I was just making another pun on the whole thing with "Snogan"!

Haven't been there either.  But I'm sure he's been on it since 5 weeks ago when the sea ice in the Hudson told him it would be a big storm
