Who the heck said it was too early for flakes?

 

It snowed Oct 12th 2006, our earliest accumulation ever. This is 5 days later, flakes are not out of the question downwind of lakes. Graupel is probably more likely in convective snow showers.

 

I personally recall flakes before Nov 1st during 1 in 3 seasons.

When I said it's too early for this crap, I meant that I'm not ready for it, not that it's not climatology. 

 

I'm the guy who likes it either summerlike or bring on winter. I'm not like Josh and others here who enjoy fall weather.

Same here. They haven't been bad down here this year as compared to the two previous falls. Little suckers bite too.

 

Their numbers are way down from the peak infestation in the early 2000's. I'm guessing the small soft body insects they feed on are becoming extinct locally. Typically they come out the last big warmup in October.
