Yeah look at the obs... Really neat as winds veered and the cold came right down the Quinnipiac valley.

Wonder what caused the wind shift? Drier air from the sucker hold contributing? I see the DP fell too.

7" up here, with a few hours to go.  I heard some reports of some sleet down in POU, but don't know how accurate it is.  I figured we could hold off the IP most of the storm up here, but we'll see.

Yeah nice to see Albany proper actually getting a good snowstorm also...  I just measured an even 8 inches.

Just like 12/16/07, going on 8+ hours of E winds at BOS but snowing away. Never underestimate the value of antecedent fresh cold.

 

 

One of the most common mistakes in storm systems you'll see models make (and forecasters) is under estimating the power of true arctic highs to our north...they take a long time to over power.
