Ian
For DCA to get 1" we probably need a 3-6" storm

snowfan
I certainly hope so. Am planning on heading out to Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday to take pics. Fresh snow on the ground + christmas wreaths at the gravestones will make for some wonderful pics.

FrederickWX
Voted no, though places a mile away from DCA will probably see an inch or more.
Huffwx
I went no-- if I'm wrong, feel free to rub it in. (Those who live right at DCA)

Bob Chill
I gather this is an inside joke. Can somebody fill me in? DCA's snowboard sits behind the jet warm-up zone. It may even sit inside a hanger. Most inconsistent snow obs location for a major that I've ever seen.
kurtstack
Yes, I say 1.5" at DCA.
gymengineer
DCA's snowboard sits behind the jet warm-up zone. It may even sit inside a hanger. Most inconsistent snow obs location for a major that I've ever seen. I don't know if it's that internally inconsistent-- just forever low. There aren't many, if any, examples where DCA's total is shockingly high. And this carries down to even cold clippers too-- like a 0.8" that was 1.5"-2" elsewhere in the city. You can't compare DCA snow totals to pre-DCA storms (like 1899 or Knickerbocker), but the ranking of the major snowstorms since the move to DCA is more or less right for DC proper. The only exception is probably PDI-- Both 2/5-6/10 and 1/96 had higher snow totals across most of the city. PDI- 18.7" 2/5-6/10- 17.8" 1/96- 17.1" PDII- 16.7" 2/83- 16.6" 12/09- 16.4" 2/58- 14.4" 1/66- 13.8" Some other recent storm totals that make sense within DCA's own rankings: 1/25/00- 9.3" 2/06- 8.8" 2/9-10/10- 10.8"

PhineasC
I voted yes and no since that is possible because the poll was set up incorrectly. Just pretend it was DT voting. Same effect.
