Paul--when do you anticipate these zephyrs to kick in?

Once the front really begins to close in the winds will start to increase rather quickly...in fact, just ahead of the front there could be a pretty decent temperature spike as southerly/southwesterly winds increase...this is how you'll know when the front is near. As soon as the front passes though there will be a major wind shift and the CAA will start to kick in.

All this should begin taking place over the next few hours or so.

Thanks--hopefully that spike will be short-lived!

Yeah any spike will be brief and will actually be much more apparent the further south you go...so far the strongest spikes are occurring across southern CT so perhaps this effect will be confined more towards central and southern CT than it will be for you.

30.4F and ZR here...everything covered in ice. Should see us finally crack freezing for a couple hours later this morning before we fall again. That snow pack is going to turn into a solid brick once we plummet later.

That's awesome. I was surprised to see that ob from orh this morning...thought spots might tick up back to 33/34 late last night after the evening drop.

Just started sleeting up this way. Precipitation is trucking northward as are the clouds up near the summit. There must be some serious wind right off the deck.

Going to be fun to mix that down when the cold front moves through. Our internal forecast is calling for gusts up to 55mph this afternoon, with locally higher gusts around midday.

Impressive obs out of upstate NY... quick vis drops to 1/2sm or less when it changes over. ASOS ticking at 0.15-0.20" of liquid per hour out there at SYR and ART. Definitely some forcing associated with this.

All forecasts calling for roughly 4-8" of new snow from noon today through noon tomorrow from upslope.

12z nam and 13z ruc soundings say it really rips out here late afternoon 3 or 4PM-ish.

Yeah the period from 3-6 PM is when the strongest gusts should occur I think...at least that's what's being presented on the models and bufkit. That's when not only the core of the strongest winds will be aloft but the llvl lapse rates will be steepest as well.
