Solar production is spiking even on cloudy days. Sun angle and length of days really evident now.

Winter 2025-26 Medium/Long Range Discussion
michsnowfreak replied to michsnowfreak's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Remember, while a big snowstorm can happen, im simply referring to getting accumulating snow. I dont think you realize how rare it is to get NO measurable snow after Feb 28th. Since 1884, it happened once at Chicago (1994) and since 1880 it happened twice at Detroit (1946, 2010). In 2010 we had snow on the ground to start March, so only 1946 saw no semblance of measurable snow after Feb 28. -
Outta gas and Outta Time: Early March Winter Storm finale

Not on my side of town. Grass is white and that's it. Maybe a 1/4". My guess is that spotter is east or north of town. When I left Kernstown (3 miles north) earlier there looked to be close to an inch on grassy surfaces and trees. -
2-4" looks good.

Big ol' parachutes coming down here with this little WAA driven event. Enjoying them while they last! -
That week is probably our last legit shot until next year.

Columbia pre-snow hi temp 35.1 4:30pm - 29.9 Widely scattered on/off flurries began 1pm but snow didn’t pick up in intensity until 1:45 and it quickly became heavy, tiny flakes. Eyeballing about 1” so far altho 0.75” is more conservative/accurate(?). Will wait until this round ends. Roads and walks fine. Of the list of items we usually monitor to confirm “first signs of stickage”, the last one today in my ‘hood was car tops, just not what I expected. I’ll blame it on that damn morning veiled sunshine. -
Saturday is going to one of those times I hate CAD!!

Perish the thought. No not a city boy, it's fine for some, but I could never live there, or any city for that matter. I grew up in Rockland but as an adult I've lived my entire life in Orange County. The first five years in New Windsor and the last 30+ in Highland Mills. I never did think of joining. Other than snowfall, days of snow cover and first freezes, first hard freeze, last freeze, sub zero days, I don't really track daily, highs and lows or even rainfall.

The WWA wasn’t for this snow but for any overnight sleet or mix. -
All winter they have been hawking warm just to bail out later. They have been deeply unserious this winter, lol

Morning low of 18 here. One of NY radio mets stated that the mid month time frame needs to be watched. I would hope that this cold winter will defuse upcoming spring allergies a bit.

You could say today's Euro weeklies cooled down a bit starting week 3. Lol https://charts.ecmwf.int/products/extended-anomaly-2t?base_time=202603020000&projection=opencharts_north_america&valid_time=202603230000 It ain't over until we say it is!

I'll verify that. It's much colder where I'm currently at in Elizabethtown than it was two hours ago in Lansdale where I dropped my last water load. -
Phoenix Experiences Warmest February and Winter on Record
donsutherland1 replied to donsutherland1's topic in Climate Change
For what it's worth, it appears that global temperatures explain a larger share of Phoenix's (and perhaps the Southwest's) annual temperature variance than they do for such cities as New York.
