  1. Past hour
  2. Poundage here. Gotta be a couple inches an hour. Wet all over....the roads.
  3. I’m in Maryland until the weekend, so I had the chance to explore this glacier yesterday and early today, and it really was just like Feb 2007. It was rock solid, very slippery, easy to skid on, and you needed very good balance to even try venturing through the glacier. And it had this very shiny glow especially under light that you rarely ever see normally. It’s been 19 years since I’ve last seen anything like this so you can say it’s rarer than a HECS. Not to mention, the Inner Harbor is partially frozen along with so many other bodies of water. The fun is ending with today’s warmer temps, but this was a hell of a run.
  4. This right here, if the Outer Banks can get 12” all snow then we can get more than that with the right setup. Might not be this season though.
  5. Well, the 5 days with no power, followed by the week and changed of the flu, I am ready for Spring.
  6. Don't forget the pure heavy snow event for eastern NC while we smoked cirrus. We missed that one and have had nothing since. Piss and moan over- at least i am in the appropriate thread for it lol.
  7. Best one was the blizzard of 96 (27) followed by NEMO (22) and then February 2006 (20.5). The only 3 20 plus snowstorms in my life.
  8. I'll give you that and gives time for snow to stick around like this year. Back-end winters suck. No early Spring for me. Keep temps below normal for as long possible... 34F
  9. Agree on all points. But still stings. 15 degree sleet…we have to be unluckiest bastards on the planet. Then to have weeks of vodka cold. Rant over.
  10. Yes, it was a gorgeous day. Looks like we’ll keep some snowpack, though looking at the extended it’s on borrowed time and will likely be gone this weekend. All good things must come to an end. I’m intrigued to see how warm we can get next week. 60s seem possible if not likely.
  11. Took my old Roscoe 6 out for a spin (it’s got the knobby tires). Sidewalks are mostly cleared but not the bike lanes. This glacier is dense material and should be studied.
  12. Snowpack nuked today. Torch has begun. I’m all for it just need a soaker now
  13. I have a bad feeling the frigid waters will come back and bite us all through April and May as we sit in mid 40s and gunk/drizzle. It'll take sustained warmth to turn that around.
  14. You do realize that the sleet bomb in the teens we had a couple of weeks ago was due to the mid-levels only. Nothing to do with the surface. And that was with a low cutting into the Ohio valley or there about. Point is, yeah, we were "saved" by very cold surface air in place while the surface and 850 low went way to our west but that was particular to that event. That doesn't mean such a thing would necessarily happen in another scenario where it's cold enough for snow but we get a better low track, say if that happens later this month or in March. You still don't need the coldest of the cold to get a good snow event here, even in the DC-Balt corridor.
  15. I should have posted that in the other thread because most here only care about the surface- specifically snow maps. It all happens upstairs.
  16. Low of 26 at 5:57am, high of 71 at 4:21pm. The north-side shadow sleet remains..for now. I'm really hoping for a good wash of the roads tomorrow, but chances of that are diminishing.
