I thought it was this year and was surprised it wasn't showing more than just a broad brush look. -

I'll be watching my 9% eclipse IMBY tomorrow. There's a parallel universe where I'm in a hotel right now in Reykjavik cussing out the forecast for tomorrow.

Spring/Summer 2026 Pattern Discussion Thread

Part of the line is now bowing to the southwest following the outflow boundary which is also going southwest from Morristown to Knoxville. I find that interesting. -
I'm not sure I understand your point? You think this year is different from the 2017-25 average because you had a localized thunderstorm?
-
-
Yeah I’m not saying it couldn’t be historically bad… I’m just not going to brace mentally for the all-time bad outcome. I’d think 20-25% below normal could be a reasonable expectation, but I’m not ready to assume 50%+ or something like 2015-16.

Nothing noticeable to me but I've never been able to see anything when this happens despite the occasional headline and notorious past events

Looks like Buckethead will get the brunt first. Nasty bowing segments along the line that extends well W. -
Lower midwest too. El Nino STJ has long tracking moisture storms across the lower part of the country.

Snow everywhere, or just in the east? -
It's a pretty smoothed out map though. >1"/month over a 9-year period for like 50% of a region is pretty strong! If you go through year-by-year, almost every Jul-Aug has been above average in the eastern 1/2

@John1122 it is trying to make it down to your area. I wonder if there will be a transition to a training cells scenario on the western end of this line.
