  3. Another half inch of rain overnight. Some thunder and lightning.

  18. While the CFS missed the summer PDO drop last summer, it’s still forecasting the PDO to remain negative into next January. Mostly due to the stronger ridge and lighter winds east of Japan. The main reason the current PDO is less strongly negative than recent years at this time is the record +PMM. In the past record +PMM patterns often coincided with a robust +PDO before the warm pool emerged east of Japan.
  19. DCA with a shutout yesterday. 0.21” for June, approaching a 6” departure on the year.
  20. .5” last night. Not bad and 2” in the last 7 days. Near normal precip at a time we often struggle with convection. .
