  1. Past hour
  2. Some mixed crap during the Birds game would be icing on the cake to this already wintry scenery/night holiday outdoor light season. Lazy people are missing a nice stroll at night with Christmas lights on....
  3. Tomer stated the following today, " While a major snowstorm is never a guarantee, chances of at least one or two in the January 8-25 time frame are higher than average. "
  4. 28.6 warmest quick today. Looks meh for ice
  5. Glad I decided to take down the outdoor Christmas decorations today.... 6. Up to 50 here with southernly winds. Hammer drops tomorrow morning.
  7. “Canadian model leading the way” GL with that
  8. 37 here. Ground is warming nicely. Snow melting on the sidewalks
  9. Melted the snow that was caught in the 4" gage down to .59". That works out to 9:1 on our 5.3" snowfall. Not surprising as I noticed a lot of small crappy flakes for most of the storm. Second snowfall in a row with light winds where the catch in the gage was quite accurate. Just about all of the models had us around or over .50 LE, including the NAM. A couple runs of the GFS were .8 or .9, but otherwise the qpf modeling for LI was pretty consistent and quite accurate. The snow map algorithms were not as consistent or accurate.
  10. There is so much crap going on this winter, its really hard to trust any model,we've been pushing back cold since Nov and seems to be maybe doing this again, you throw off one piece of the puzzle it throws off everything
  11. Nice photo. I remember crossing the throgs neck bridge and seeing the sound frozen completely across from queens to the Bronx. Probably have some photos somewhere
  12. Only 19F at MVL in sun. Its 37-39F at our two sensors top of FourRunner Quad and Gondola. 20 degree difference is impressive during sunshine.
  13. Undoubtedly they found a way, but it's hit and miss. These are from when the Sound partially froze over in 2015 (can't believe it's been almost 11 years). A bit chunky, but Mrs and I found a spot to stand.
  14. This looks to be the coldest December in 15 years for much of the area.
  15. thanks this is awesome, I had looked for it for a while but lost the bookmark
  16. It's been forever since I've seen a low in Texas pulling in that much gulf moisture.
  17. Poking my nose in to comment on this. I read your forum a lot for analysis, but don't post, but this one got me thinking. There are new weather terms and phrases are annoying, but the one that gets me the most is "puking snow" when it's snowing heavily. It just sounds stupid...and gross.
  18. Spotty but yeah. Feels like a winter day. 31F, overcast, snow piles around and it just looks like something's going to fall from the sky...
  19. Agreed, love that along with BREAKING [emoji599] [emoji599] [emoji599] Immediately makes me hide them when they show up in my feed. .
  20. I am back from my early Knoxville run today....there is one way to get rid of feedback from the Alaskan vortex, and that is to replace it with feedback from an EPO ridge. LOL. 384 from the 0z GFS today. I don't know what is going on w/ that model, but the juice is loose with it. Somebody slip some DGEX code into the GFS programming?
