  1. Past hour
  2. Love it for you guys! Colder there than here in NE Wyoming, but I tagged out yesterday morning with a great buck with fresh snow on the ground. Hopefully get a measurement from my renters so I can contribute snow totals still.
  3. It's pour snow at 21 degrees. I've picked up an inch in the last 20 minutes.
  4. Parents in Lexington, VA report snow flurries.
  5. this was from about 2 hours ago, near house mountain/mascot area.
  6. 4 hours of fishing this afternoon, only had a 6" fluke to show for my effort. Cold night in store. Not going to be fin for the dawn fish frenzy tomorrow
  7. Me? Maybe. My wife and dog? No.
  8. Just flipped here and hammering suddenly. BTV has a couple inches down. HRRR says we rip 6-10pm. If we can do a few hours averaging 0.1” SWE in snow, I won’t complain.
  9. One more after dark. It came down fast and heavy. Still falling, but much lighter. 22.5. A great early start to winter.
  10. We weren’t in full, across the board La Niña mode yet at this time last year like we are now. Just to name one, remember how positive the AAM was early on? That’s an El Nino signal. The OLR early on last year is another example. I honestly can’t think of a one single non Niña aspect to the ocean or the atmosphere right now
  11. I saw zero flakes here in Hickory. As usual, it jumps right over us in the immediate lee of the Apps. On another note, it’s already down to 32! .
  12. I agree to a point. Some of the recent years with unusually wintry novembers followed by unusually tame Decembers was weird. To happen once, no biggie. But it happened multiple times. But then, sometimes you get slammed in January and February and forget about how December was meh. Especially since December is busy with Christmas activities and January and February are boring. All that said, I'm really hoping for a great December then when January starts we will worry about that. One month at a time.
  13. Felt like an Edmund Fitzgerald day driving home. Grey with a howling NE wind. Obviously nothing like the 978mb bomb that sank the Fitz with 86 mph winds and 30 foot seas. Played Gordon Lighfoot in honor of the 29 souls lost 50 years ago today.
  14. Friend in Charlotte says it’s snowing hard but not sticking
  15. I *still* haven't turned my heat on yet but it's coming. And I know once I do, I have to start up the humidifier routine. With the central air heat, the humidity can drop down below 20% in here (triggering the static and nosebleeds)! I can usually get my humidifiers to take me to ~35%, which is fine. 40% and over gets to be too damp.
  16. Yeah. To really have a great winter around here, you need a wintry December. Without all three months it’s hard to label the winter as great imo. When winter doesn’t start until January, it feels like it’s over prematurely by March because it feels short at that point regardless of how good it is.
  17. Pretty good lower-level frontogenesis corresponds with radar returns over lower Piedmont area, including Charlotte.
  18. Definitely going to be crisp night. Helps with breathing going out for a quick walk clears my congestion. Being inside I'm a mucus factory...
  19. I saw that. I actually "plant by the moon" from that. The other (older) one - the "Old Farmer's Almanac" is still going though, although that one is really oriented towards farming vs this one that had more general gardening stuff. Am hoping that maybe someone will swoop in and buy them up.
  20. first flakes of the season in NW Chesco first flakes 2025.mp4
