I realize everyone is focused on this weekends storm and for good reason, but the cold could be more historic. NYC has a possibility of breaking the longest streak of below 32 temperatures. Also looks like January will be the coldest in at least 10 years.

I don't care about the east coast anymore. They got the ocean to help aid storms. It sucks they out big dog us but I'm so used to it by now it doesn't bother me like it used to. It helps I'm in a warmer climate for sure. That useless cold for the next week is gross.

RGEM is a pummeling, it's 1.4 QPF by 18z for DC with 0.7 falling in the 3 hour period 15z-18z. If we can get that kinda death band right before the change we could def get double digits in the metros.

If that Monday snow verifies I think someone in northeast MA may pull >24" I would not forecast that now but I think there could certainly be some reports. This storm is going to be full of surprises...I can't get over the whole DGZ thing looking around on bufkit lol. I think dendrite mentioned this about the snow ratios and how its difficult to maintain upward of 20:1 - 25:1 but where and when the best lift is occurring...there is going to be a swath verifying those ratios at least for a brief period of time

I'll add one. No single NYC proper airport or ASOS site (JFK, EWR, LGA, and NYC) will report double digit snowfall totals.

Ditto. I think I've had a moment or two of 'losing it' over the past 2/3 days. Why? Anyway, decided to enjoy whatever falls, I've set my mind to 8-10 at a max, probably 3 inches of sleet on top of maybe 6 inches of front end snow. Gonna just chill for the day, try to clear this nasty hack/cough/cold stuff I've now battled for a week plus. Wishing all as much snow and sleet as possible and as little freezing rain as possible.

The key is in CTP write up is how long does it take to saturate the air for snow to fall. Always a concern does it take inches of Virgo snow or does it saturate quicker and we do lose that much.

It sounds like they were very reluctant to put them out, and when the Social Media manager came back in after being off they an yelled at someone.

For those of us who still use a snow shovel, what strategy will you employ. I was originally hoping to clear the snow snow once or twice during the event, but now with the potential for heavy sleet cemented together with a little zr I’m leaning toward waiting until it’s over. Any thoughts?

Trust me theres nothing dirty about the state of the snowpack right now. Its fresh drifty arctic looking powder.
