The sensible weather in anyones location is what most of us really care about. So as we get thru summer and towards Fall, it will be interesting to see what you, 40/70 and others who lack a strong bias and have a forecasting background start to think as the winter approaches.

Yep. 1972 was a good example of a -PDO super El Niño. The -PDO is going to have no limiting effect on this developing super El Niño thanks to the extreme ++PMM that’s in place. In fact, it’s not only helping to kill the trades, enhancing the warming, it’s also working to support the development of an east-based/EP event, as per the research I’ve already shared in this thread a couple of pages ago, explaining how a +PMM favors east-based/EP El Niños

More patchy frost tonight over the northern valley into SW VA. This is getting old fast(covering up stuff)! These temps have been steadily going in reverse since those mid-80s summertime, bluebird days a few weeks ago! 57F at TRI right now. Feels like February.

Haven't gotten into permethrin yet, just vigilance once I'm back inside. Worked all but once; in November 2022 one found a hiding place in the short hairs and had a drink. It was quickly dispatched but only after infecting me with anaplasmosis, which messed with my balance and eyesight along with making me feel awful. Doxy to the rescue. 10 AM thru 12:30 was spent on the woodlot, with its abundant horizontal fir (thanks to Dec 18, 2023), also wandered thru the cedar swamp, a cool area in both senses. Only found one tick so far, likely a couple will turn up to be squashed. Great day to be in the woods, except for the black flies. They're still only checking the menu, but also checking out eyes and ear canals.

Had some heavy rains form overnight as a line came through. Walking out to the chilly air felt great!
