  3. Some breaks in the clouds to the west on visible sat. Devil's advocate arguments here could be the usual "the crapvection might lay down boundaries" or sometimes the preceding rainfall can help us stay moist rather than mixing to lower dews. I still think failure is a very high potential today - but my eyes are still open (for now).
  4. I dunno man. After yesterday and early morning rains …. Let alone day before that…this am crapvection…. It’s gonna take some full sun juice to re-prime and even then I don’t know. I’m gonna play the numbers and take the under. .
  5. just incredible lightning for hours last night from that glob of storms.
  6. (Dusts off microphone) Are those football winds in late August on the 06z GFS? .
  7. Yeah, 2009-10 and 2010-11 proved that. Those winters had a lot of snow in a very short period of time. Imagine how high they would have gone if they didn't come to an abrupt end.
  8. Smokey days ahead ?
  9. 6 warnings in Iowa right now including a tornado warning, and still no watch out lol. Swing and a miss north with this wave for this area. Again.
  10. boundary near you, if IA complex gets its shit together, you're in a good spot imo

  12. Had a nice hail storm this morning. Up 1/2” IMBY but many areas reported 1”.
  13. Another uncomfortable day ahead plus showers and storms are now possible for parts of the Metro - yesterday the forecast was Mostly Sunny for today.......Also a couple of days ago Thursday and Friday were forecasted to have much lower dewpoints and humidity - now 80's with showers forecasted.......
  14. Thanks for posting this. That season was one favorable pattern after another. I believe that season could have had even higher snowfall totals in today's environment given the added heat/moisture availability. I remember multiple storms where I had hours of virga and snowfall with temps in the teens and lower 20s.
  15. Nearly missing an intense heat burst through the center of the CONUS as we watch it get deflected underneath. Not sure I'd celebrate that... not yet anywho - It's likely to go down that way. However, there's still some potential for a warmer correction N-NE; that the models may be too suppressed. The NAO was western limb orient/negative; so, a summer polar branch, albeit seasonally weak, being S in Canada made sense while that was taking place. The NAO is in a state of transitioning into a positive mode, though. The canonical expectation is that heights should rise and the flow becoming more zonal across SE Canada. It's unclear if the guidance et al are handling that in the 120 range. A tendency to hang too much suppression over the top of that "heat dome" expression cannot yet be ruled out. As far as the heat goes ...that looks impressive to me. 582+ hydrostats ( actual water integrated heights) means at minimum there's likely to be some massive DP ballooning S of the stationary boundary where ever that aligns. Right now it's roughly Chicago to NJ somewhere. The 850 mb index finger metric temp is 20C+ throughout, so that's likely mid 90 to 100 over 76ers. Yuck. Could be just as impressive as any heat anomaly we've seen in the CONUS this summer, despite being post solar max too. I'll tell you though ... that whole situation ... looks like a breeding ground for MCS traffic. There's QPF modeled around the Lakes ...but as it stands now, if the guidance is right about the overall synoptic structure they're likely to dive before they get this far E. 16. Week 31 of worldwide YTD cumulative burnt area by wildfires: 2026 is still by a good margin lowest of comparable weeks of 2012-26: https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/cumulative-area-burnt-by-wildfires-by-week?time=1..52&tab=line
  17. And crab grass. The cold weather grasses don’t stand a chance on lawns around here. much of seacoast doesn’t know managing landscapes well and boy it shows in this warmer climate

  20. Nice setting there. I know its code but now that you are past all that crap, you should remove that railing on the left side of the steps. Its an eyesore. Much cleaner look without it. Removed mine on both deck stairs years ago when I replaced the steps.
  21. Curious to see what the batch in Ohio does. The north central Indiana complex i feel will definitely slip far to our SW.
  22. Was woke up at 5:10 this morning by one very loud crack of thunder. No lightning and no other thunder. Got .08” of rain.
  23. It has been a storm lover's delight here this morning. Constant thunder and lightning for the past hour and forty-five minutes, with 2.72" during that time and it's still coming down. The northern part of our county got additional storms last evening. I'm guessing that they are well over 4.5" in the past twelve hours.
  24. Still out. Least on the outage map it now says, 'crew dispatched', lol. About 14-15 hours now.
