I decided to take the day off and hike up Sugar Loaf Mountain. What's with the hazyness today? Low lever moisture? Wildfire smoke? Chem trails? It really limited the view and dulled the fall color. It was still a beautiful hike.

That pic actually look great and fairly clear.  We have had a slight wind today which has cleared some of the smog (from camp fires, cars, etc...under this "oppressive" high pressure.)   This Am it was like a Canada Wildfire day but better now.

DCA clocking in with a dry October, with almost an inch and a half deficit.  Approaching -7.5” on the year.

Looks like HGR will end up with a top 20 warmest Oct (58.4 Mean as of yesterday) but they had one day with what I remember to be severe related qpf so not near any monthly records at 2.33" total.

Woke up to a thunderstorm in Henderson, NV.  Why did I have to come here for weather?  I'm in a state of disbelief at the stretch of weather back east.  Has it rained there the past 2 weeks?

It's been one of the most beautiful Octobers that I can remember. Arctic blue sky, perfect temps, no rain. It's not that dry. The trails i hike in the woods are moist like they usually are from November to May. The shorter days and low sun angle doesn't dry things out.

Saw a lightning bolt today and Vegas had some downpours.

No freeze yet or in sight here in the lowlands. Grass is green, flowers are thriving. I wonder if I see a freeze before I leave the tropics on Dec 1.

Still growing up here in the highlands.    Growing Season lives on....may pick some veggies off plants, in late Nov,  for Turkey Dinner.   (Kidding..sort of)

I have a few strawberry plants me and my kids potted in the spring and they have flowered again and have berries ripening.  And I have been below freezing twice and had frost for a week straight.  It's odd.
