We went down yesterday and it amazing to see how much solar is down there compared to up here in Grafton County NH. Is it we are cloudier and further north or politics? We love our solar roof and have had credit electric bills the past few months. Sunny weather is boring but it does help the mood when the meter is "spinning" backward.....and with my electric car we were able to make it back on electric. So I'm glad it's a sunny day to charge the car back up. I try to charge on sunny days. Ok, back to weather... Politics. Massachusetts in May had their first month ever where renewables supplied enough energy for the state.

Ok, back to weather... unlikely to have anything to do with clouds or latitude, solar is widely used in Europe where it is also cloudy it might have something to do with the price of power, which was 20 cents/kwh when I went solar 10 years ago, and is closer to 30 cents now I believe. how much is it up there ? should be less since you are closer to where it is generated (Canada). it might have to do with incentives, Mass has had tax credits and cash payments for SRECs (renewable power generated) for as long as I can remember. it might have to do with politics and the resulting "news" (media) that people consume; we have right-focused friends in the next town who were absolutely blown away when we shared with them our solar journey - they could not believe that we hadn't paid an electric bill in 10 years, had recouped system costs in their entirety in the 7th year, and have a credit for excess generation that is currently north of $600. they thought solar power was a "scam". for me going solar was part economic and also an acknowledgement of the environmental damage I am doing to the planet by my consumption. using and providing excess renewable energy to my immediate neighbors is one way I can help reduce my personal impact on everyone else

So they would technically be outside the 1991-2020 window. Maybe they’re using 15 year normals there while everyone else is on 30? Just a quick glance it looks like the temperatures are actually lower in Manchester. Bad calibration in concord? After you're done with those standard deviations maybe you can run a comparison of actual temperatures.

Hudson Valley to the CT River will see scattered storms develop during the afternoon, perhaps evolving into multiple lines but there won't be much in the way of west-to-east progression, will be more southwest-to-northeast so probably will see some flash flooding where storms train...probably within the CT River Valley and Naugatuck Valley (should start mentioning them too for future reference because of the rate they flood in these setups). I know you're typically pretty good about providing links for things that you share on here - do you know where this info came from? My understanding is that solar is a tiny fraction of total energy generation in New England with gas and nuclear making up ~80%. This link, with the most up-to-date info pegs solar at ~4.3% and renewables in total at 13%: https://www.iso-ne.com/about/key-stats/resource-mix I'm inclined to think that Massachusetts as a whole would use more than 13% of all energy production in New England (assuming they used all the renewable generation alone). I'd be curious to see how that math works out if it's accurate.
