Think we make it until 6-7pm without rain today?

I don't really care too much about fireworks, but our town is having a huge festival all day with food trucks, bands, and a watch party for the Brazil vs Norway game at 4pm.

Would be nice to get the fireworks in too...

HRRR has hardly anything until very late tonight, but can't rule out an isolated downpour before then. Really hoping for some good rain tonight and tomorrow -- we've had bad luck with the heavy rain missing here the last couple days.

10 inches of rain? No thanks

I think we’ll see a 5-8” jackpot setup somewhere - maybe CT (?) based on some of the more recent guidance I’ve seen.

Admittedly too soon to know where but the atmosphere is ripe to produce some prolific rainfall somewhere in the tristate area over the next 48 hours.

Pawling and Patterson got obliterated last night. No power here. The CVS had lines blow onto the roof and the entire building burned to the ground. Things are pretty rough up here after last night. Take a look at some of the photos from Pawling especially.

Why sad psv, great news

Great news? Pretty tone deaf comment for those including myself who have been without power for days and for those who will undoubtably receive a lot of flooding were that to verify. We need moisture but we don’t neeed flooding rains and certainly not with all the damage around right now. calling your comment tone deaf is honestly the nicest I could be about it.

A soaking rain is likely tonight into Tuesday. It now appears that a general 1"-3" ranfall with locally higher amounts near or above 4" is likely. Thunderstorms could bring flooding downpours. Highs will reach the middle and upper 70s on both days. It will turn warmer to end the week. No excessive heat appears likely through mid-month.

The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +3.1°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +1.8°C for the week centered around June 24. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +2.60°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +1.37°C. The ongoing El Niño will continue to strengthen through the summer.

The SOI is not available due to data feed issues.

The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.690 today.

There are a lot of tone deaf comments on this forum.

Morons wishing for hurricanes and such.

Lives are lost and property damaged every time these things happen.

Something as simple as a large tree falling on your property nowhere near a house, car, or person can cost you thousands of dollars to haul away

Thats when these storms and stats cease being cool

Latest guidance on power is Wednesday night. What a horrible weekend

Same here, power still out.  Latest update is 11:00 tomorrow night for my area.  Generator is saving the day but honestly I'm getting tired of hearing the noise.  First world problem I know.

Can't wait for the next time a Cat. 1 takes the right track.  How the hell are they ever going to handle that?  I know they are working hard and I'm not near as bad off as some but it seems to be taking so long.  Friend in western Hunterdon County is Wednesday night and friend in Berkeley Heights is 9:00 Thursday night.

I've got nothing to complain about so forgive me.  I'm just cranky.

I hope anyone that depends on a sump pump during heavy rain and is without power gets it back in time.

Been playing catch-up today reading these posts and as scary it got down here in the Philadelphia region for a while last night It doesn’t sound like it holds a candle to what many people in North Jersey or the Hudson Valley experienced. Having grown up in the Midwest, I never understood the fascination with “rooting” for destructive weather so to speak… I’m nowhere near being a child anymore (I’m 57) but I must say I still get somewhat triggered whenever bad storms are in the offing because I remember so many times being woken from sleep by my mom or my dad and them taking my brother and I into the basement because the tornado sirens went off. That does something to a six, seven, or eight-year-old; especially when a tornado strikes nearby and you can see the actual damage and how it has completely disrupted or uprooted someone’s life. I sincerely hope your power is restored sooner than later, and the same goes for so many people on this forum who are being given restoration  dates days away from now. Take care.

Seems gathering theory of mind for those directly effected doesn't override the thrill of something anomalous occurring.

Also may suggest to have a local storm response subforum so as to promote understanding the scope of aftermath with the same. Would assist I'm sure to have follow-ups/and provide info on emergency personnel and services available to the public/resources.

Since Memorial Day weekend I've had only 1 significant rainfall (a little over an inch), so I am desperate for heavy rain. I think most people that find agriculture important are rooting for heavy rain because we're in a severe drought right now. Not that we're rooting for major flooding -- hopefully that won't happen. But a 1 to 3 inch rainfall would be great. This heavy rain threat certainly is good news to me. I hope it doesn't disappoint -- we need to put a dent in this terrible drought.

Yeah we don't need another repeat of last July
