Great news? Pretty tone deaf comment for those including myself who have been without power for days and for those who will undoubtably receive a lot of flooding were that to verify. We need moisture but we don’t neeed flooding rains and certainly not with all the damage around right now. calling your comment tone deaf is honestly the nicest I could be about it.

Been playing catch-up today reading these posts and as scary it got down here in the Philadelphia region for a while last night It doesn’t sound like it holds a candle to what many people in North Jersey or the Hudson Valley experienced. Having grown up in the Midwest, I never understood the fascination with “rooting” for destructive weather so to speak… I’m nowhere near being a child anymore (I’m 57) but I must say I still get somewhat triggered whenever bad storms are in the offing because I remember so many times being woken from sleep by my mom or my dad and them taking my brother and I into the basement because the tornado sirens went off. That does something to a six, seven, or eight-year-old; especially when a tornado strikes nearby and you can see the actual damage and how it has completely disrupted or uprooted someone’s life. I sincerely hope your power is restored sooner than later, and the same goes for so many people on this forum who are being given restoration  dates days away from now. Take care.

Seems gathering theory of mind for those directly effected doesn't override the thrill of something anomalous occurring.

Also may suggest to have a local storm response subforum so as to promote understanding the scope of aftermath with the same. Would assist I'm sure to have follow-ups/and provide info on emergency personnel and services available to the public/resources.

Since Memorial Day weekend I've had only 1 significant rainfall (a little over an inch), so I am desperate for heavy rain. I think most people that find agriculture important are rooting for heavy rain because we're in a severe drought right now. Not that we're rooting for major flooding -- hopefully that won't happen. But a 1 to 3 inch rainfall would be great. This heavy rain threat certainly is good news to me. I hope it doesn't disappoint -- we need to put a dent in this terrible drought.

Yeah we don't need another repeat of last July

It's going to be feast of famine. You're either getting under an inch or 6"+

I think there will be areas that get 1 to 2 inches in addition to the areas that get lower amounts and much higher amounts. That's how it usually works when we have these heavy rain threats.

Thinking somebody gets a boatload of rain out of this. With the front draped through the area. SPC targeting the area. Plus radar now seems to be lining up to eventually slice through the area and 2" pwats in place.

Correct. Just look at how slow those storms are moving. Where that boundary sets up — no good.

I’m concerned about for weekend campers along the Delaware River. Hopefully they all check out today for their safety. A few cells currently popping up and not much movement with them.

Flood Advisory just issued here, the cell has been back building/hardly moving.

It’s just to my north and west, hearing the thunder but no rain here yet.

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following
  county, Orange.

* WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 723 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
    flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor
    flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Good to hear that you’re not in the bullseye. Some of the Mesoscale models are showing up to around 9” of QPF thru Tuesday in different areas it all depends on where these cells set up shop and just dump.

absolutely awesome storm ripped through westhampton last night 20 minutes after the fireworks. gusty winds, lashing rain, but nothing *too* severe like other people were affected in the forum. just a great show with very minor limb damage to trees. What are we thinking in terms of rainfall around SW nassau for the next two days? Driving to and from the hamptons this weekend I got a pretty good visual sense of where the worst of this vicious drought is and it seems like South West to South Central Nassau- and generally just the south shore, until around the Hamptons- has had it worst.
