Given that DCA gusted to 68mph - that's right up there and not sure an additional 7mph would have caused a appreciable difference in damage. But not sure.  

I assumed that was what they meant because it made the most sense for the tornado cig levels; cig 1 hatching, you would expect EF2s if storms develop, etc. I could be reading between the lines too much, though.

Definitely ice stuff going on. I confirmed by standing on my balcony and facing the Catoctin’s while the pingers collected on my hoodie. I must say it was rather unpleasant after a few seconds.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Central Calvert County in southern Maryland...

* Until 1000 PM EDT.

* At 949 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Breezy Point, moving northeast at 75 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of central Calvert County, including the following locations... Huntingtown and Dares Beach.

That report shows "wind gusts estimated 65-70mph" in the LSR on GR2AE. Not sure why the numerical value is 81mph. Also not sure which line to believe lol.

This is why I hate severe weather.  Sounds like it might be just NE of me but it's crazy windy out.  It's all fun and games until it comes for your house.

That's what the warning said.  Looking at the radar it seems like it would be out over the bay now but I'm gonna hang in the basement a bit longer because it's very windy out.  Sounds like a train.

It's settled down here so I guess I'm in the clear.  Ironic since breezy point had a tornado a few years ago - a ton of trees were destroyed and a lot of house damage.  Hopefully this wasn't a repeat.

Winds stopped here too. That was insane IMBY… hopefully the beach wasn’t damaged.
