Haha, no I just do it for fun and am nowhere good enough to play publicly other than a handful of pieces that I've really worked on as I've moved.past the beginner stage.  I'm no pro like @Maestrobjwa

She skated that free skate last year when she won the 2025 world championships and I loved watching her performance then…to do it again on the Olympic stage was amazing — and yep she had a blast doing it!

My first and only call is snow and rain or wet snow Sunday with only grassy accumulations, then snow Sunday night with 2-5” from south to north. Northeast MD pummeled with 6”.

I have certainly enjoyed the last four days of heavy snow in the Sierras. I have gotten quite the FIX.

However, no mercy. We get 4 days off, then Tuesday another three feet of very heavy WET snow descend on Mammoth.

Skiers will get their fill of the white room tomorrow. Main Lodge lifts will be up and spinning by 10am local Pac time. SIX FEET of fresh POW await those who get there first. Palisades Tahoe got EIGHT FEET of fresh POW! Skiers are gonnabe besides themselves with pure JOY!

Every time I close my eyes all I see are huge aggregates being driven by 85 mph gusts at Mammoth! All I see is Plow Guy plowing DEEP snow!

I had stopped watching figure skating because it seemed to be a race to landing quads. I have never seen her two programs and looked up her short program yesterday. Wow what a breath of fresh air. I did not even notice the jumps. The joy and excitement I saw, she had created one of the most fluid pieces I have seen in a long time. Her free skate was just the same. Her musicality is amazing! Proof that you have to enjoy and love what you do. I applaud Alysa for taking the path she did. Towards the end of the younger Ms J’s junior riding career she had stopped having fun. She consciously decided it was not about the ribbons but about showing how much she loved riding. She took on the training of a friend’s young horse. And made the decision to stay on her large pony and have some amazing fun with her. She also really enjoyed being on an IEA team. A format where you ride a horse by draw that you have never ridden before. Not all riders can do it as it takes your skills and knowledge to figure out a horse just by a description on a piece of paper and maybe one test fence. Those decisions ultimately helped her with the choice of schools to attend. She chose a school with a wonderful IHSA club team. Where anyone can ride you don’t have to be recruited to ride. Those who do what they love will always come out on the top of life. Alysa skated like no one was watching. I thank her for letting us in.

There are two schools of thought for baseline expectations Sunday:

• School 1: It only counts as snow if it accumulates on the Beltway, ideally during rush hour, but we'll begrudgingly count non-rush hour snow: Baseline of T-0.5" of snow. 
• School 2: It counts as snow if it accumulates on my 30' high north-facing metal deck but then melts whenever there's a 10+ minute lull: Baseline of 2-3" of snow.

Anything above and beyond that: Gravy.

That girl skated as if she was a kid that didn't even know she was in the Olympics but was just out there having the time of her life. It was just so carefree yet so masterful...she said she didn't feel any pressure and wished coulda stayed out there longer, lol I mean if there was a perfect way to end the gold drought for that event...that was it. Best and most memorable skate of the games!
