I give this winter a solid "B" so far.....can't give it an "A" being at normal snowfall after getting boned on the '78 redux. Let's see what can. happen during the final stanza to move this up...

I had this conversation with myself this morning. B-

A+ on snow pack retention

A- on cold (though becoming less of a fan as I age)

C for snow

Weight it 60/30/10 (snow, pack, cold) and it’s a B-.

Gfs pretty active overall. Let’s make the public have a mental breakdown.

I have to laugh, some of my family have been texting me this morning with these ridiculous maps for next Tuesday showing a lot of snow. They're asking me if this is true and freaking out LOL. I told him breathe and wait until the weekend.

I still think that despite losing the deep cold (which was gone after our big period earlier this month) we are far better positioned to rock than we were at any other point in the season. I'm doubtful of early spring like warmth in after whatever next week, but even if it happens, I think we're going to be padding all the way to the end of March. Not all will hit, not all will be wintry, but we're not done by a long shot.

A on pack (mostly semi deep since 12/2)
B on cold (consistent but nothing high end)
C on snow (basically running near avg)
D on intangibles (too much nickle and diming…missing the biggies…little rain is a plus

B-/C+

I'm not usually a pack retention kind of guy, but it's been impressive this season. I've had 6 days since 12/3 with a T or less on the ground. And I've been over 10 inches on the ground since 1/26.

Chuck in a normal March snowfall and I'll be at the best snow season since 2018-2019.

2018-19 was a very good winter in NNE. It was ok here but nothing special. Kind of an inverse of this season where most of SNE (outside of far northern MA) is going to put up a very good grade while most of NNE will be ok but nothing special. Still some time to change it I guess if March does something crazy.

That 2018-19 winter did have a pretty signature arctic out real though in January unlike this winter. ORH had a high of 1F I remember, which was the lowest max since 1994 when they also had a high of 1F.

4 snow threats next 10 days lol they are freaking out on our social media about my post for tomorrow.  Going to be mass real estate sell off in the spring to move down south I bet

Had a real estate agent in one of the local Facebook groups who has clients wanting to buy into the town, posted saying that this is a great time to move somewhere warm and if you're looking to sell to reach out. Thought it was clever marketing

It’s an A in my book. Prolonged cold since even December, snow on the ground consistently for at least a month plus, two 12+ inches snowstorms. For coastal CT that’s about all you could ask for.

Having said that I’m over the cold. If it’s gonna be cold then at least snow. Otherwise let’s just torch lol
