The only saving grace has been the deep pack which is good for my pawpaw trees.

OTOH, fucking voles girdled and killed every single one of my 50+ young pear and apple trees under the snow.

I can only imagine the damage those things have done here. I’ve been battling for a few years. Kill em all

those things are assholes, between them, the chipmunks eating my berries, and the rats that somehow always migrate from disgusting neighbors house to feed at the coop, we're constantly chasing critters out... looks good weather wise going into March tho huh! if next week transpires, it can go right to 70s for all I care. been a decent winter, best since 14/15 here.

Scott's right ... perhaps do what one can to enjoy winter's glory for the next 7 or 8 days because after that the season's plug might be pulled.  It's still over 8 days out, but it's also not a new signal.  The indices have steadily been improving with coherency.  - by the way, there is a March thread so technically this belongs over there.

However, there persists a modest winter event signaled between 2-5th.  Not altogether impressed for any chances prior to that, assuming reasonable model/indicator performance.  The flow will be fast, however ...so that may limit that ability for the synoptic scaffold to evolve into a coastal - if the flow relaxes a little ... similarly to this last one, could become a relative signal inside a longer termed unfavorable correlation.  Nested anomaly ... so we'll see.  But for now, the operational GFS/Euro overnight were illustrating the limitation by keeping it a "swfe"/overrunning ooa March 3/4...

Melt and mud kicks in like a seasonal light switch in these extended signals nearly on the heels of that.

Reminds me of 2015. Once the snow cleared you could see every sapling in fields were girdled.

Winter can’t really be anything other than an A here now

Wow…after all the incessant moaning, and you telling us the winter was nothing much, you get a blizzard (that you thought you wouldn’t) and now it’s an A. Thanks for the info that most of us already knew.  Classic.

Back broken

Lol…obviously this is sarcasm…but your calls of back broken haven’t been very accurate. It’s been anything but, for all of SNE, Especially now for your area.

One more good one for us who couldn’t maximize yesterday, and then let it end.

We’ve got weeks and weeks after next weeks big un. maybe late Morch ?

I’d love one more bigger system…then it could end by the second week of March, and that would be perfect for me.  I don’t need the second half of March being cold…it’s been a fabulous winter, as some of us figured it would be very early on…despite the ratter and dud and mediocre calls from knowledgeable folks.

It has to end sometime, but I’m broken down to the point where I’ll believe it when I see it.

Yes. Agreed. But the cold seens to always find a way this winter…but as I just said, 2nd week of March or so…let’s warm it up some.

It’s been a persistent pocket of cold in the northeast…just a little too much for up here (snowfall wise).

It’s been pretty good. It was AN for awhile and now we coast to March. Always can squeeze in a storm when back is broken.

Cold is done after next week. Big time -PNA and east coast ridge.

With the huge snow pack and cold ocean, this spring is going to suck with backdoors....even the long range OPs can see it....60s and 70s down in PA, 40s up here

The point is, you tried to tell us back broken two plus weeks ago,  and that was incorrect.  Nothing speaks or says back broken like a 2-3 ft blizzard.   Too funny:,

And your post above…That’s still two more weeks away…which imo is perfect timing…bring in some mildness by mid month.
