2 weeks ago I was posting to my clients about the ghost of Jan 2015 walking through the door!  Well, he's now sitting at the kitchen table!  Great storm... Last week Will posted about the Gulf opening up (moisture flow) and how that tends to mean northward trends!  I have been waiting for the gulf and deep southern moisture to get involved for years!!!  Let's see if we can keep it going with East Coast action.

Seems like they’re going to keep coming every few days / week

Yeah…for once it finally played out as I suspected.

Love when the dendies fall in big pillowy clumps like this.

Absolutely!
We've had 6" of those kind of feathers in the 6.5 hours since clearing the board at 7 AM, with a microscopic LE of 0.08".  Had only 0.01" from a 1.0" snow and two different times seeing 4.5" with 0.10", but 6" of 75:1 ratio is beyond what I thought possible.  Very little wind and sub-10 temps were a big help.  Hardly anything falling now, but the total now is 17.5" though the 13" pack of yesterday morning only gained 16".  Given the fluff factor, unless we have several more inches of dendrites like the above pic (doubtful), the current 29" will probably be the stake's top reading.

Interesting GYX discussion.   Calling for 3 to 6 through this evening with a period of heavy snow later today in this evening in my zones. Apparently, even though the radar looks like it’s ending there is more energy still to come through and act on the leftover lift and moisture.

HRRR looks like a little energy dials up and gives us a bit more.

Started snowing again around noon and we've picked up 1.0" of new accumulation. This brings the event total to 17.3" which now surpasses January 6-7, 2024 (16.9") as my biggest event since moving to this location in 2022. Keep it coming!

Lets euro, We stayed 16-18:1 on this, So should be close to 5" or so if correct.

If that were to validate, I'd be getting another 0.22" LE and probably another 3-5", eclipsing Jan 27-28, 2015 with a mere 0.88" LE compared to 2.17" LE from the 20" blizzard eleven years ago.  (Another 0.05-0.10" is more likely IMO.)

Decent snow growth now. Driving around and man the piles are huge. There was some QPF in the snow. This was a great storm. Cars are just buried.

Snow banks are real deal out of this. Would’ve easily surpassed 25” if we had like 18 to 1 instead of 13 to 1 or so.

But the QPF always shows up in the snow banks. My oldest son decided to dig a hole into the snow bank while I was clearing out the mailbox

You’re not done yet

I got a half inch earlier, doubt anything else falls, the suns trying to poke out, on to the next threat which I thought would have been a true coastal monster, we'll see if it hits or whiffs, but sig and tele have been there for a while now

Euro was pretty bullish with it, Had a good burst earlier then it was still snowing under the radar under dim sun which you don't see often, But looks to be building again so we will have to wait and see into the overnight.

Was more interested in a final report from Newport. Around 12?

Unofficial report but the southern end of Newport had upwards of 12 inches. I'm in Boston right now and although Boston had 5 more inches the amount of snow looks the same probably because sleet makes snow banks more impressive.

Despite being on the edge of the good stuff, still have picked up 1.5 more and steady -Sn still. Planning to take the groomer out tonight at 430, our club president plugged in the block heater cause those old Perkins Diesels are numb in the cold.

Not sure about there but the stuff we got here will not pack well if at all.  It's about as dry a snow as I've seen.  We've gotten about another 3" since I finished snowblowing around 9:30 and it is almost like every single flake is adding the most it possibly can to the accumulation total.

you know what sucks is the ABS module on my truck went, long lead time order, been waiting since fall, and it disables 4WD and cruise control, aside from ABS, but it's a known issue and I can't drive it in any snow because of that, my other vehicle is a 2000 Accord v6, that needs new coil connectors and better plugs, so it's not 100%, at least my dad has a Jeep compass that's decent in snow, best vehicle I ever drove in snow was my wife's old Grand Cherokee, back in 2013 I was driving that after the storm and it was like on rails in snow.

So I know the head observer.  He’s solid.  It could be the 600+’ elevation?

Was really cold. I don’t think that would matter.

im not saying they slanted, but I know when its windy they have had what seems to be higher readings.
