24" here on the season at this point which is pretty damn good for here. With future prospects too, this is a fun winter we have going on.

As someone who rates cold, I’m loving this winter. It’s not a prolific snow winter as in the region’s best, but it’s a throwback winter in summation I would say.

Even during the warmup this month I wasn’t getting stressed and thinking “what the hell season are we in?” UnLike most of the 2020’s, it never went extreme and it was brief with respect to how we’ve had near full months wildly AN.

Now we all have a literal glacier for the foreseeable future. Good in my book.

Stats for the day... High 20° low 12° .... Snow/sleet 11.5"... le  1.57".

Don,

I'm across The Kill from you. 8.5 inches of snow at 1 pm. 2.7 inches of sleet/snow afterwards.  11.2 inches total.  11 F low in the morning, high of 18 F.

I remember you from the old NYC Metro page.  I've been a reader-only here for several years.  FD

I live on a dead end, and my driveway is the dead end. So when they plow I have a 4 foot pile to move from in front of my driveway and it’s always heart attack type stuff

I started thinking about all the 12+ storms on LI in recent memory. They still come roughly every other year (recent ones in 2022, 2021, just missed 2020, 2018, 2016 2015 2014 2013 2011 2010 2009 2006 2005 2003 x 2 2000) though recently there was a bit of a drought but it’ll never be as long as 83–>93

Nice mood flakes continuing this morning.  Ongoing snowshowers for the past few hours have added a little fluff on top of yesterday's snowfall.  18⁰

So after all the hand-wringing and model psychosis, who is dissatisfied with this one?

Got more from December 14. 8" vs 6.5". That was all snow, easy to clear the roads, cars, driveways.

Not a fan of these snow to mix events.

12.2" storm total with 15.5" OTG.   We had light ZR drizzle earlier but that seems to have stopped.
I just had a neighbor down the block try to convince me we had 3 feet and this as I'm standing there taking measurements with the ruler.  :wacko2:  I could've told him I've been a trained weather spotter but instead just gave him an "Oh, really".  Exhibit 5 million for misinformation, because guaranteed that will end up on social media or he found it on social media.

Fine.
Yes, the same name, In fact, I set this account up in 2010 but never posted here.
I was an active poster on NYC Metro, for years.  It was founded by a few then-young guys after the "Bevans" board went nutty.

NYC Metro had its day, it was like family; until it went downhill.  Great posters were there, the late-Icehater; Robbbs; Tatamy, who is here; Thundersleet; and the always-fun Metfanforlife, to name a few.
Many good posters here and great moderators, so I might chime in from time to time.

I look to your numbers and the members in Colonia, Metuchen, and Plainfield for comparisons. FD

Storm total here from most recent storm:

Snowfall for the event: 13.5".  Was tricky to measure mid and late storm with the increasing wind and sleet mixed in at times.  Changed to sleet here for no more than 30 minutes mid afternoon then went back to snow with just a few periods on intermittent sleet until it ended about 9:00 last night.  I'd say 95% of the storm here was snow.  Snow depth from current storm at 8 this morning was 12" even - total snow depth (includes snow on the ground prior to this event and some compaction of new snow pack) is 14".  Drifts on the north side of house 20-24", even a bit higher in a few spots.

Waiting on the cylinder to melt down so I can get a melted total and a ratio.
