What did you all end up with?

I had just under 7" prior to the switch over and atleast 1.5" of sleet. Maybe a little more

Thinking I'm going with 8.5

I had a bit more than you in snow, I saw your total earlier.  I had measured 8.25" but went with 8 in the end along with 3" of sleet for an estimated 11".  I definitely had more than the 1.5" and I thick you did too :-).   I will say that the plow came by about an hour ago and the removal of that left over snow was some of the hardest I have ever had to deal with.  I am on the second half of my life as well.

Holy shit BWI reported 11.1”!

I got my ass kicked by BWI!!:arrowhead:

DCA 6.8

IAD 7.8

Spotter in Ashburn reported 9.8”, which is consistent with my 9.5” so that’s good to see I’m measuring it right

Question: If I measured 5" of snow before the flip, then measured 4.5" of sleet, that's a total of 9.5" even if I only measure 6.5" after the precip ends, right?

Yes that’s correct. Apply usual snowboard measuring rules except in this case you measure at the flip, then add the snow + sleet totals

Precip shut off in Lynchburg, VA - snow/sleet depth measured in multiple locations is 4.3", mostly sleet. Probably got close to 2 inches of snow before the flip and 3-4" of sleet which pulverized the dry snow. Only a trace of freezing rain which is a welcome blessing. Certainly a memorable storm that will stick around for a while.

This is a really tough storm to measure. I got 1.75" of clean snow before the flip. I'm confident there. I cleared an area for sleet accumulation but it was too close to my house and my roof deposited extra sleet. I definitely didn't get 4.2" of sleet and everhwere else was compacted to around 3.5" total. Total qpf for the storm is around 1.4" (models were too juicy in my yard) so I got around 1.2" qpf as sleet. I'm just going to call it 2.5" of sleet and go 4.25" for the event. A bit less than I had hoped but super memorable storm. Winter wonderland out there for sure.

WTF is that DCA measurement?  That is absurdly low

you surprised?   I think i predicted 7.1"

yesterday when things were looking good for 8"+.  They measure on a small strip of grass right in front of Terminal A and they have a history of not really caring.  They probably just stuck a ruler in the ground.   They didn't get only 1.5" of sleet.

Plenty of 8"+ reports nearby
