But 7 hours? Doubt it. I’ll go with what LWX is saying, if not an hour later. Next hrrr run may show something different

The rates right before the flip would be very nice. 0.1-0.2" QPF in an hour, probably some huge silver dollar style flakes before the changeover

There is a shit ton of cold air trapped east of the mountains. The question is how fast the warm air can move over that cold dome. We are all going to learn a lot from this event here. One of the best CAD's of my life is going to be fighting. 2
Bob Chill
14 minutes ago, Maestrobjwa said: @Bob Chill How much virga was over your yard before you saw your first flakes? Just a couple hours but snow has super light/off and on until just now. It's starting to stick but it's more like sand than snow. The DMV will likely have much better snow growth conditions than my yard. 6

balltermen
Not sure if 22z HRRR has been posted This could be a snow sounding. 14z is clean. 8-10 am will be an interesting window. I think it's clear that a 16z flip for DC would require a little divine intervention.

I don't think snow amounts are as consequential this storm other than for stats. I think 6" of snow followed by sleet would be satisfactory for east of the fall line. 4" would be disappointing. But climo usually has the last word.
DDweatherman
Why is the euro doubling down on being basically the snowiest model for us? Gfs and UKMET were aggressive on 18z too.
