Agreed Start an Observation Thread later tonight for Tomorrows event - this thread has gotten too long in the tooth so to say at 33 pages - back in the old days we would start new threads if they got too long

It’s funny you mention that because my days of tracking weather on this board have only been since 2019, but when I look back on the older pages for storms in the past, sometimes there would would be new threads for each one of the model suites when there was a big storm coming. This place used to get a lot of traffic back in the day, clearly. Been much quieter ever since.

we started doing that during the Boxing Day storm Dec 26th 2010 which we were tracking for a week or more at least - go back and take a look at it

Your still a greenhorn... Lmao some of us go back 20 years+ to the EasternWX days. We would have a select few members that would call a Play by Play/PBP as the models were running when we had a storm inbound. Boxing day was pretty wild. Tombo calling it and Earthlight..  I didn't sleep for a week and still had to go plow when it hit .. In recent years another weather board popped up that many have flocked to, I was banned from it...  Lol

PDII in 2003 was another doozy of no sleep for days watching models and the board. After many many years, and it takes time, I don't get all worked up and stay awake for the 1am euro... Lol those days are long gone. I wake up and can tell what happened by many more pages of posts there are in the morning. Not many posts equal a dud, lots of pages and we got a banger!

i wouldn't go that far; its been piddly events for lots of us followed by a dry warm stretch. hopefully that is turning around. today we got a surprise 2.2 inches imby, if RU is accurate; when i emerged from the theater, after suffering through 3 hours of avatar, wondering when it would end, i was shocked to see plowable snow; the mall was busy too. i. guess we're around 10-12 for the season. we would need a lot more of these events to get to seasonal average here; i think we have been in a drier climate a few years, so a big daddy is probably unlikely, though i lucked out in feb 2024 with that 10-12 inch storm.

Isn't there value in being shocked? Im in your neck of the woods. Hasn't it felt wintry since Thanksgiving? Maybe that's a low bar but I'm loving every cold day.

back in the day we use to get those shocks....you never were ready....jan 1987 was an example; there was no internet or anything, no cellphones....i went to work in the shipping and receiving dept of the bell towers in piscataway, it being the only job an english degree could get me, and a temp job at that, and by 10 am they were sending everyone home. took me several hours in white out conditions; march 92 also was a surprise, two late storms.

The HRRR has gotten the 0z cycle off to a promising start with a deeper, closer, snowier solution across NJ and eastern PA.

Hrrr has little snow in the morning  then a break and then the coastal cranks with heavy snow during the evening for NYC.
