Not sure why so many people want severe storm in their backyards. It’s still brown as hell here in the ever present lake shadow. I don’t need a severe storm. ANY storm will do. It does seem that severe setups are the best for getting storms to survive Lake Michigan and provide rain. Garden variety popups and weakly forced MCSs just love to avoid this area. As for winter, even those have been boring and dry lately. Lake effect is a nuisance when it only comes 2-3”at a time.
Stebo
Nice little storm passing through here. We actually needed some rain here in Southern Macomb. We missed out on most of the flood that hit North of here
luckyweather Posted yesterday at 12:18 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:18 AM 1.07” imby ne of RFD for the weekend, all yesterday. Been a lush summer here, no stretches of crunchy grass or dust yet this warm season. The corn out this way looks as good as you’ll ever see it. cyclone77 Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM The big 3-day high-end rain event that was so hyped by NWS and guidance resulted in a paltry 0.57" here. As per typical the northwest part of the DVN cashed in bigtime though. That area is way overdue for a run of bad luck in the precip department.
Chicago Storm Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Topped out at 95° at ORD and 94° at MDW on Saturday. On Sunday, MDW hit 92° (ORD 89°'d). ...2025 90°+ Day Tally... 26 - MDW 26 - PWK 25 - ORD 25 - DPA 23 - ARR 20 - RFD 20 - LOT 16 - UGN

hawkeye_wx Posted yesterday at 12:47 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:47 PM Another MCS rolled through eastern Iowa overnight. I received 0.82". My six-week total is about 11.5". It is very green around here.

Been the summer of near misses IMBY where we are barely keeping drought at bay while areas just north and south are more lush.
sbnwx85 Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM We've had just a trace of rain in August. But we should get at least a half-inch today.
frostfern Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM Nearby cell is bombing CGs. Line needs to fill in a little extending SW for good rain coverage though.

frostfern Posted yesterday at 10:19 PM Share Posted yesterday at 10:19 PM The heaviest rain is missing just 2-3 miles NW but it’s been a great loud CG show IMBY. Doesn’t seem like drought buster though unless it backbuilds some more fills in farther SW which seems unlikely.
frostfern
I picked up .18 in the AM and .47 in the PM so far for a total of .67. Areas just a little north and west are probably closer to 2 inches. Quite a bit of rain-free CGs from the tail end of the cell cluster passing to my NW. Extremely low dark blue-greenish scuddy cloud bases as well. Sad I didn’t have a chance to film anything. Brian D
Been a dry, and seasonable Aug so far up my way (favoring the + side). Chance at precip in the next couple days. Early Fall wx starting to creep in next week. Much better than sticky, but this week has been pretty good with cooler mornings.
