hawkeye_wx
I got 1.11" of rain overnight from a couple lines. Nothing too strong, but there was some solid lightning/thunder. The global models did not handle this system very well.
OrdIowPitMsp
Unprecedented in duration air quality issues due to wildfire smoke according to the NWS. hawkeye_wx
1.18" should be my final total. My July total is 8.54", almost the same as last July. The plants and lawns are very lush.

michsnowfreak
Although a solid shield of rain will be approaching soon, an isolated cell ahead of it developed RIGHT over DTW, dropping over 1" of rain. Just a trace here. Regardless of what happens overnight, between this cell and the cell 2 days ago (2.68" DTW, 0.33" MBY) there is going to be a huge difference in July rainfall totals between very close by DTW and me. The kind you only see with the aid of summer downpours.

Lot of similar days here with towers going up almost directly overhead but not dropping their load until they move a few miles off to the south or east. Whats stranger is how the NWS didn’t predict this stratiform defo-band. Crazy how they still weren’t mentioning it in their last discussion. Maybe it was supposed to be over I-94 instead, but you’d think they’d be looking at the radar.
cyclone77
Only 0.42" from the first two waves this morning, but just had a slow-moving thunderless shower dump over an inch in a half hour. Up to 1.56" for the day, 6.99" for July. MLI and DVN are both well over 9 inches for the month now.

I don’t think any of the models had the rain even close to getting this far north. The forecast still only has a 40 percent chance here. lol

It’s like one of those anecdotes meteorologist haters will bring up (only they pretend the forecast is wrong all the time because they simply refuse to remember the 95% of times the forecast was right). I can only imagine the hair pulling here if this was a winter storm.

With my close proximity to DTW, many times, things like summer storms or winter snow squalls somewhat even out over the course of a season. Not literally dead even, but one time theyll get hit and i wont then the next time vice versa. In all those years, even in summer months, Ive never seen such a difference as this July. Brian D Posted yesterday at 02:53 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:53 PM TH ends at 7.53" for July. 8th wettest. The lack of stms last weekend, that was forecast to be robust, had potential to bring me up into the top 5, but that's ok, a good rain for the month really helped us back to near avg on the YTD 18.38" (17.94" avg). Max avg 73 (75.1)/ Min avg 57.4 (54.5). 7am time adj will bump up the min by about 0.5. Max will be about the same. Cooler max/warmer min. Hmmm, where have I heard that before. (OK OK just sayin lol)

I picked 1.45 IMBY but it was spread over hours. As much as I’d prefer a thunderstorm to boring stratiform rain, I feel long duration light rainfall helps more with greening. Still need way more water here, but the short duration 2+ inch per hour instantaneous-rate showers seem to run off to the street without truly soaking into the soil. It’s especially bad when you have a layer of clay on a slope.
