The RGEM and GFS have a regional high around 102°-103° for Tuesday. So if we compromise between them and the Euro, then somebody gets to the 102°-105° range. Since the GFS and RGEM have a small cool bias. Euro does best with full sun and strong WAA.

lets just hope we dont get any clouds Tuesday afternoon

This is kind of normal, it will be in the 80s by Monday evening and stay at 80 or above all night.  Nice launching pad for Tuesday.

When you're 95 to 100 you don't expect to be in the mid 80s by 5PM.

A couple models have 70s.

One of the worst parts of heatwaves in the city is the temps staying at absurdly high levels deep into the night. Being 80 degrees at 5PM is actually quite comfortable lol

I wouldn't call that normal for a "major heatwave"

Yeah the warm spots will still be above 90 at 10pm Tuesday

It's happened a lot here at the coast after hitting 100 around 12 noon or 1 pm.

Around here we're used to peaking around that time, usually we outpace the city and even Newark sometimes by several degrees.  Then the temperature starts to drop around 4 pm and then it levels out in the early evening and sometimes even starts to rise again after that.

If we get full sun and offshore flow, then I think 102° to 105° will be possible on Tuesday for the warmest spots across the area.

What I'm noticing about Monday and Tuesday is a very light wind field, almost NW to N as the surface flow begins to lose identity. Certainly a hot enough air mass to approach 100F in the NYC metro but will any weak sea breezes develop to keep readings in the low to mid 90s? I would bet on 102-105 in parts of NJ.

Up to 89 now, I figured I was done after hitting 88 at I don't think 90 is possible at this time but still an decent late day high especially after the rain rolled through this morning. Heat index at 98

temperatures now finally starting to drop at 7 pm.

We hit 89 around 5 pm and hovered there for almost two hours lol

Historically in such a scenario the coast hits 100 early on (12-1) and then temperatures start to drop after 3 pm.

1981 - A young woman from Lubbock, TX, was struck by lightning. How is this even possible?

JFK Airport (91°), LaGuardia Airport (90°), and Newark (92°) all reached 90° or above while Central Park (88°) did not. That was the second time this month that happened. The last month with two such days was August 2021. The record is 4 such days in June 2010.

Even more impressive, Bridgeport, JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Islip, and Newark all reached 90° or higher, while Central Park did not for the first time since June 17, 2022 and only the 12th time during the period of common recordkeeping. The 5° difference between Brigeport (93°) and Central Park (88°) was just 1° short of the record for all days where Bridgeport reached 90° or above and Central Park did not. That record was set on June 24, 2017: Bridgeport: 90°; Central Park: 84°.

During the period of common recordkeeping, there have been 149 days when JFK reached 90° or higher and Central Park did not. In contrast, there have been 722 days when Central Park reached 90°F or higher and JFK did not. There have been 46 days when Bridgeport reached 90° or higher and Central Park did not. In contrast, there have been 663 days when Central Park reached 90°F or higher and Bridgeport did not. There have been 38 days when Islip reached 90° or higher and Central Park did not. In contrast, there have been 702 days when Central Park reached 90°F or higher and Islip did not.
