madwx
The amount of wildfire smoke overhead is absurd. If this is the new normal I want off this ride

If this is the new normal I want of this ride Looks like it should be sunny but the sky is milky white. I think this is the worst I've seen it so far this year.
cyclone77
Dewpoint reached 79 today at both MLI and here. We've since slipped back to a more comfortable 74 and 75 though lol. MLI hit 92 today.
Brian D
Skies have cleared here. This is the clearest they have been in weeks. No smoke, and lower humidity.
nwohweather
Looking at 97° today here in Charleston with a dewpoint currently of 78°. Since my move from the Midwest if this pans out that’ll easily be the most extreme heat/humidity I’ve had

Must have all moved south with the storms. Never noticed it particularly bad this year, until yesterday. We've had a long stretch of those red dot sunrises/sunsets, but at least the sky has been blue until then. Worst smoke haze I've ever seen is still May 20, 2019 in Oklahoma. I couldn't see the updraft tower/base of the Mangum supercell when it was less than 5 miles away.

Spartman
Some weekend this is going to be. Looks like we're in for an overcast day to end July tomorrow. Clouds are already increasing. Highs are only to be around 75 or lower tomorrow. Sunday, we'll be dealing with widespread haze from the wildfire smoke to kick off August. OrdIowPitMsp
Minneapolis was at or below 5 miles visibility from smoke for 27 hours until conditions slightly improved this evening. We got down to 2 miles visibility yesterday afternoon, the state of Minnesota set a new poor air quality record in St. Cloud yesterday.
OrdIowPitMsp
Smoke has reduced visibility to 1.75mi at the airport. Tomorrow the air quality is expected to reach the “Very Unhealthy for all groups” (Purple) level. I’ve never seen that before.
Brian D
Band of heavy smoke moving S-SE across N MN. Looks like it should clear out for the evening on the strong N flow. Possible scattered showers coming in to NE MN from CA. Had some rain w/thunder very early this morning. Total rain for the month is 1.58". About 2.5" below normal. The dry streak continues around here. Gooseberry Falls, just up the road from here, is just a trickle right now.
cyclone77
If this keeps up the NWS will have to add a dense smoke advisory to the list of headline choices lol.

Hoosier
Finished -1.0 at ORD. August would have to come in near -3 or colder for met summer to finish below average.
OrdIowPitMsp
July was 1.7F above average at MSP. 0.87” of precipitation. Half of that on the 6th.
Brian D
NE MN was about 2 deg above normal (3.5 in I-Falls), and 2-3" below normal in precip for July. The best chance of rain coming up will be in the second week of Aug, but the month looks fairly dry overall. Temps look to avg out. Really need the rain.
