Could the tennis and ping ponging on models be due to struggling to recognize p-types?

Somewhat..soundings thru the column are bouncing between 32-33 each run..so what's there at 32, may be sleet and gone at 33 on the next run

Yep the snow dome is screwing us again.  Well this time next week winter is done.  60 less than a week away!  Wohoo!

60 is going to be great.  I have not been able to get my boat out on the water since I bought it...  Time to get out and rip some lips. I am however, going to enjoy whatever we get tonight for some reason I am feeling good about tonight. Maybe it's the Scotch in my hand.

Here comes the fire hose:

Now, I know some of that is bright banding as snow is melting, but the main thrust of the precip. is aimed right at East TN. Which means the best lift is aimed here too.

Obs. indicate rates are sometimes overcoming the warm nose in places.

Weather done has now been fully deployed here in the southern valley...starting to know what a donut holes feels like.Screenshot_20210217-193500_Chrome.thumb.jpg.be8c540eaa68186cdfe1eedde6f242f6.jpg

This is crazy. Even Meigs got an advisory. I can’t believe McMinn, Bradley, or Monroe got an advisory.

ational Weather Service Nashville TN
636 PM CST Wed Feb 17 2021

.UPDATE...
FOR EVENING DISCUSSION.

&&

.DISCUSSION...

With reports of sleet becoming dominant precipitation type
approaching 6 PM CST, updated suite of forecast products to
address with chances of freezing rain and snow continuing.
In some locations a change back over to all snow has begun
to occur over last few minutes. If this trend continues, an
update to suite of forecast products shortly after top of hour
likely to be issued. KOHX 00Z Sounding showing a very slight warm
nose approaching a degree Celsius at 887mb that is likely allowing
production of this sleet across mid state region.

Camera atop the Severe Weather Institute - Radar and Lightning Laboratory at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Might be fun to watch from there later.
