Cold front approaching from the north will set the stage for severe thunderstorms on Saturday. Strong and increasing uni-directional shear will make wind damage the biggest threat with these storms. Starting the day with 700 mb temps of +12c so large hail not looking unlikely. Heat advisories will be likely as temperatures soar through the 90s to near 100 in southern New Hampshire. Dangerous apparent temperatures in southern New Hampshire will range between 110 and 115 degrees as dew points top out in the mid 70s. Phone GPS apps can be off by up to 100ft or more at times. I could go to the same spot 10 days in a row and get 10 different elevation estimates on various hiking/skiing apps. Now they aren’t off by much but they’ll be different every time. Google maps and google earth, topographic setting, is the most accurate and it’s even used in construction planning on the hill.
