Recommended Posts

Northern part of the line seems to have collapsed a bit and is not as organized. Southern part seems to be pretty formidable from Frederick and south.

under a lol warning for a brief downpour and a few rumbles of thunder.  I'll still have to water the flowers tonight.

northern and northeastern MD are cooler than locations further south, so this makes sense.

 @high risk

From LWX's afternoon AFD re evening and tonight... sounds like you were right on your post but maybe?

The cold front will drop into the area from the north this
evening before slowly moving through our area into central
Virginia overnight. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may
accompany the frontal passage later this evening, and with
strong shear in place there is a threat for severe
thunderstorms. However, confidence is lower due to the loss of
daytime heating. Convection should dissipate overnight as the
front drops farther south and drier air begins to filter in from
the northwest.

  at 50 mph.

to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately.
Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

So much for the northern areas getting hit hard today. PA hasn't gotten much and the northern part of the line in Maryland has really fallen apart. Going to be a close call for my location. Looks like heaviest will slide south of me.

yeah, gusty showers with a couple rumbles of thunder here. pretty ho-hum garden variety stuff. like @high risk said, the northern areas just never got warm enough before the line came through.

I'm not closing the door on round 2;   it just seems less likely unless you're further north.    The obs over the next few hours will tell the story.

What size?

Not big, wasn't in a good spot to go outside but you can hear it against the windows. It's already over now though.
