Remain separate for several hours, leaving a snow hole in West Seneca and South Buffalo. Then they will combine, intensify and move further into the Southtowns, transitioning right through us lol
MillvilleWx
2 minutes ago, BuffaloWeather said: Any guess as to what happens with these two bands? Combine or two separate bands? Judging by the wind field, might see two parallel bands with intersection east of Buffalo radar. Later on, might see the bands combine as the winds shift a bit more westerly. Hi Res shows them trying to stay apart for now.

Hard to tell, but with the snow since 7, we have to be over 18 inches. And that northern band is coming in pretty heavy now. Haven’t gone out yet to snowblow- I own a wimpy Toro single stage because we haven’t needed anything more heavy duty, and because I have narrow walkways to clear, but I’m regretting that now.
BuffaloWeather
Looks like bands are combining to form a band across most of Erie county. Heavy snow in southtowns and northtowns is rare in lake effect events, but they're the best!

Take off probably a bigger problem, not sure how you de-ice and remain de-iced in those conditions. Not sure what KBUF actual minimums are but i'd guess there's not much moving around now. Even taxi-ing problematic.

AppsRunner
What's the flake size been like so far around BUF/southtowns? @BuffaloWeather - You'd probably be in the best spot for dendritic growth. Also pretty fun seeing BUF at 0F reporting 1/8 or 1/16 SM with heavy snow. Regardless of totals this is going to be a high end event, especially if it sticks around the metro through rush hour.
