TugHillMatt
Yeah, I am guessing we will get some downsloping from up in Montague area...but even during our lean LES events we have had, the NAM 3K has had a minimum bubble over eastern Redfield...pretty much every time. Thinksnow18
So the NW side of the precip seems to be eroding...is that due to the high pressure over southern Ontario or is the storm deepening and will pivot soon?
wolfie09
Right when CNY will be getting it's heaviest precip.. Adding to the jump in snowfall rates will be much more favorable/efficient snow making microphysics. Usually...the dendritic growth zone is 3-5 kft thick...but overnight this zone of snow production will deepen to nearly 10 kft! This will force our somewhat grainy `columns` and `needles` of snow to change in character to dendrites...which accumulate much faster.
tim123
Pivoting soon. You can really see that depiction on euro precip maps

More than I expected by this time for sure however I too am worried as rates have actually lightened in the last half hour and Radar returns are wreaking somewhat too. What’s going on? This is all virtually just bonus waves of overrunning snow. We haven’t even gotten into the good stuff. It will ebb and flow. Be patient as it can turn up quickly. CNY_WX
Looks like there’s some heavier returns over the southern tier heading towards CNY. Been snowing steadily all afternoon but flake size has been on the small size.

All this snow from earlier, until about 7 or 8 o'clock is just gravy. The dynamic fun starts in 3-5 hours!!!!
