lakeeffectkid383
About 1” of snow with light flurries just north of Springville... not off to a good start to this event, have a gut feeling that KBUF was way over zealous with this event... as usual. Slow down boys...the upstream looks great, plenty of moisture to work with for the next 36 hours and no shear. Also every channel I watched stated nothing was really going to get going until later today so let's let it play out. Ok done being the voice of reason, my next post will be fire and brimstone!!!
TugHillMatt
Woke up to a couple inches here on the western side of the Tug.
CNY-WXFREAK
Back edge is starting to show itself but does it come to and end for a time drys out and then the fun begins? Really windy though I can attest to that!

TugHillMatt
Don't you just love how that High pressure just HAS to move SE at the same time the Low is moving NE this weekend? Just in time to squash it... Tough winter so far.
CNY-WXFREAK
Looks like we get the lull after-all.
CNY-WXFREAK
If only last nights deluge was snow, we'd be buried. It's just amazing how easy it is for the atmosphere to rain, but when it comes to snow it seems like its always confused for some reason, lol! Super windy here though as thats a lock with this event, high winds
CNY-WXFREAK
Looks like we have to wait for this next batch of moisture to get things going again as temps aren't cold enough for a response yet.
rochesterdave
Agreed. Slow pathetic start. 3k NAM at 12z looks great for the SE Ontario region. I see Tim is on back on the forum. Everything coming together. Upstream looks good. Big streamers off Georgian Bay.

tim123
This looks to be a entire south shore enhanced event. My guess advisories and warming to be expanded later today. Monroe county may get a warning.

DeltaT13
Hi Res NAM really lights up overnight for entire south shore. Will be interesting to see if that lobe of moisture and shortwave ignite the lake this evening. The cold air is still lagging behind so I don't think we have to start panicking just yet. Also, I realize this is literally as weenie-ish as you can get, but Hour 384 on the 12z GFS is pretty much the most perfect Miller A one could hope for. Almost looks like 93. What a beaut, enjoy it while you can as it will be gone by the 18z run. haha. The East coast is active though over the next few weeks, we just can't get the timing right.
tim123
South shore should light up around 4 or 5. Go all night to about noon tomorrow. I could see someone getting a foot

We’d like to see a little more time over the lake. High end advisory for Eastern Suburbs. Including Walworth.
tim123
We may be headed into a stretch of cold and stormy not seen since the 70s. From now into march

Hills south of SYR will do well with these winds, nearer the lake may get blown over. Seeding may help...and maybe some wind reduction.
wolfie09
At least it will be coolder this evening, hopefully we can cash in on some decent ratios..

Interestingly enough, the GFS, IIRC, does a pretty good job at predicting these big storms/signals well in advance. Sandy, 93 are two examples that the 'American' model grabbed on to a week in advance. Granted, this is way more than a week, but keep watching! TugHillMatt
Just cleaned up. 3 to 4 inches of very heavy, wet snow. Light snow falling right now. Waiting upon the lake effect snow now. This is when elevation helps. 15 minutes down the road 500 to 700 feet lower in Williamstown they didn't get anything.
