Syrmax
15 minutes ago, tim123 said: Whats ku method and why does it apply Kuchera, in a nutshell, factors in temperature in determining ratios ( snow to liquid equivalent), versus a fixed 10:1 ratio. It has its limitations as it doesn't (i think) look at snow growth zone and upward velocity (lift) alignment, which matters for dendrite (snowflake) type. So, basically, take qpf and plug in whatever ratio is expected (12:1 or up to 15:1 here) and get a swag at total snowfall. That doesnt account for banding either (or downsloping, etc). CNY-WXFREAK
About the same then. I wish it would slow up just a bit as it was a 18-24hr event but now it looks like 12-18hrs, if that, so I hope it isn't a trend but I'm afraid it is, unfortunately. Still a great event nonetheless

No mixing issues. No weird layer problems. Track looks solid. Lots of precip.

Buffalo Bumble
Darn government shutdown. Tried to check out Great Lakes sat imagery and ice analysis pages, but sites are down. Curious how much ice is starting to form on Erie with several sub 20 deg nights in the books now. After middle of next week, looks like lake effect conditions could really get cranking if PV sets up shop south of James Bay. Need to squeeze one or two events off Erie before freeze up.
