This gives new meaning to a back-loaded summer in Grand Rapids. It only reached 93 in June, 90 in July, and 88 in August.

Just passing along an update...  Grand Rapids hit 95 for the 3rd day in a row.  Even more impressive, Traverse City (way freaking north in lower Michigan) also reached 95.

Well so much for having 4 seasons, gfs shows ridging throughout the LR with a trough in the west. 80s in October look likely.

Basically summer until Thanksgiving.

It's a shame because we were setting up for a spectacular foliage season but all this heat and dry air are going to kill it.

The GFS only goes out to 10/10, not even close to Halloween, let alone Thanksgiving. We do see a huge cooldown in the 9/28-10/1 timeframe, though if a strong GoA low returns with the cold air remaining in Siberia, then the cooler pattern will be short-lived.

The good thing about this is that it's in late September so it cools down a bit at night

September 2011 was the last wet one at EWR. All the Septembers since then have been dry.

Euro has it dry till next sunday (oct 1) Also hinting at heights coming up on/around 10/3.  GFS is warmer sooner after a 3-4 day cool down 9/28 - 10/1-2.

Now that the trough has finally replaced the record summer ridge in the West, it doesn't want to leave. Just like last fall.
