Alternating periods of moderate and heavy rain. The wind is picking up some, but nothing too bad yet. Radar looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better. I am curious to see how the wind plays out this afternoon.

IF the HRRR 10 M gust map is even close to accurate its gonna be really bad for a big chunk pf SC/NC later tonight as the center moves offshore....this is a large area of 60-80 mph wind gust and it last for at least 4-5 hrs in any one spot....

Poor Kingstree and Lake City, those are the same areas that recorded almost 30" last October.  GFS was accurate here, winding down with 4".

You are right about that, those people can't catch a break. I haven't been able to find any pictures out of that section of the Pee Dee. Hopefully since the Midlands did not get as much rain as the 2015 event, the Black and Lynches Rivers won't flood to preposterous levels again.

Marion is inundated. Also Florence County EOC is reporting a road washed out down toward Johnsonville and took a car with it.  Driver is missing.

I don't think you can post the link because it's that crappy MAG site. But I can find it on my own.

No kidding.  They had the 28", plus the midlands 22".

I can't believe Boone had 4".

The poor people of McClellanville, per Brad P's tweet below, have had another hurricane landfall. This is where Hugo made landfall in 1989.

Nitpicking:  Hugo was much closer to Charleston - sort of Isle-of-Palms/Sullivan.  Which is only about 30 miles from McClellan, so given how awful the conditions were, everyone got hammered.

The areas that Matthew has been hitting includes several of the major East Coast wildlife areas critical for fall migration and overwintering, and the marshes now filling up with runoff and garbage are the nurseries for the seafood industries.
