Someone at DTX has a twisted definition of "comfortable"  :P

WEAK AND DIFFUSE CYCLONIC VORTICITY RIBBON OVER THE CWA WILL BE
SHEARED EASTWARD OUT OF THE STATE ON SUNDAY. LOCALIZED AVA SET FOR
THE DAYLIGHT HOURS ON SUNDAY WILL BOLSTER THE RIDGE LOCALLY UNDER
INCREASED DEEP COLUMN SUBSIDENCE. CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME
DOWNRIGHT COMFORTABLE WITH TEMPERATUERS PUSHING 10 TO 12 DEGREES
ABOVE EARLY SEPTEMBER AVERAGES. HEAT INDICES SUNDAY WILL INCREMENT
UPWARD INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 90S.

Damn mid 90 HI is pretty uncommon this time of year.

An interesting tidbit from IND, especially after the record-setting rainfall of early summer:

At Indy, the 15 day stretch of no measurable precipitation (Aug 20-Sep 3) is the longest one since August 2013 (21 days).

Under the category of " It All Evens Out In The End" ?

Just a trace here in the city today. Enough to dampen the pavement but the ground stayed bone dry. Some spots south and west of here in the county got at least something measureable.

Low overnight was 72F...had to be close to a record i would imagine...  hit 89F yesterday...hot/humid...dews sat in the low 70Fs all day.

Couple more hot ones and its game over...

relief is in sight:

NAEFS continues to cool the mid part of the country...  fall weather for the rest of Sept/?  me hopes.

Yeah I have been seeing that for awhile around mid months in the long term models. Nearly all are on board with it. Definitely going to enjoy this last week to the full. Beach day everyday!

Warmed up to 81° before the SE wind knocked the temp down to the upper 70s.

Quite humid still.

If your sick on the heat and longing for cooler times, just take a look at this scene from today at Mount Rainier - the Sunrise side.

Lightning strikes Jim Beam warehouse in Kentucky:

A Jim Beam warehouse in Kentucky  was struck by lightning releasing 800,000 gallons of bourbon into a nearby lake. Then, the lake was hit by a "firenado" setting the inflammable liquid alight.

End of the heatwave is near. Finally tagged 90 this afternoon around 4PM, after being stuck under thick clouds for a few hours this afternoon. We have had five 90 degree days this September, while the whole summer we only had six 90 degree readings.

Had some good rumblers come through last night, dropped another 1.2".

Today will be the 5th 90 degree day of September.  This will tie with the most 90s of any month this year, which was July.

90 degree days at MLI

June/July/August/September  2/5/1/5 for a total of 13 for the year.  Looks like 94 degrees will stand as the hottest temp of the year.

Looking forward to the cooler air later this week.
