Keep an eye on Francisco impacting Japan. This is gonna cause the jetstream to drive south with unusually cold air into the eastern US next month. Models will eventually latch onto it.

It will certainly help to dump cold air somewhere in the US, but it may be centered more towards the Plains and Midwest with the NAO being positive.

I think the NAO being positive this time around is going stop the cold air from pouring as far East into our area as we currently just did with Wipha and a negative NAO phase.  Definitely something to watch though but I think the plains into the midwest might get more of the cold air to come than we do with the NAO this time.  We shall see.

... The growing season has ended for interior portions of
northeastern New Jersey... southeastern New York and southern
Connecticut...

For Passaic and western portions of Bergen... Essex... and Union
counties in New Jersey... Orange... Putnam... Rockland... and northern
portions of Westchester counties in New York... and northern
portions of Fairfield... New Haven... Middlesex... and New London
counties in Connecticut... the average date of the first freeze
occurred 2 to 3 weeks ago.

As of this morning... October 26th... most of these areas
experienced several hours of freezing temperatures.

Based on this information... the National Weather Service frost and
freeze program for these areas has ended and will resume during
our next growing season in the Spring.

Note that frost advisories and freeze watches and warnings will
continue to be issued for coastal CT... southern Westchester... New
York City and Long Island... and Hudson and eastern portions of
Bergen... Union... and Essex counties in northeastern New Jersey
until their growing season ends.
