Front apparently came through CR a few hours ago, but it is now dead calm outside and our temp/dew are 2/3 degrees ahead of yesterday. Each day of this heat wave CR has been a degree or two ahead of the previous day.

Front was right at Waterloo's doorstep at 9am. Still north of Dubuque and a little south of Madison. Temps should rocket upwards the next few hours with the incoming front.

EDIT: Winds will go from west or northwest to north or northeast behind the cool front.

Just passed ORD.

Needed another hour...

Midway was a degree behind ORD at 10am, and look to have about another half hour before boundary hits. Be interesting to see if they achieve 100 there. I'm guessing they will.

Seems a bit more humid here this morning than yesterday. May start to see the dews begin to pool up pretty good over the next few hours just ahead of this slow moving front. Could make for some awful heat index values later this afternoon, similar to 6/28. Sitting at 94/75 right now.

DTW back down to 95*F as of 5PM (albeit with a swampy 74*F dew). I really thought 100 was a given today. Guess not. No reason to think tomorrow will perform any better unless I'm missing something. The record to beat is a degree higher tomorrow as well (101F, also from 1988).

There is no doubt about it, Detroits numbers have been way less impressive than areas JUST to our south and west. This heatwave is not even CLOSE to 1936 here. But it still feels sickening outside. Right now 93F at DTW but 75F in MBS. Relief in sight!

This heatwave in its entirety at DTW. Officially the heatwave was only June 27-July 2, one of 24 heatwaves on record to last 6 or more days. Even though by FAR the most oppressive days were 7/4 and 7/6 (and maybe today) those sadly arent even an official heatwave

Any record highs tied or broken, or record high mins tied or broken, bolded in red below. Thus far, just one lone record has been established, and that was the high of 102F on July 4th.

6/27: 90/60

6/28: 99/67

6/29: 94/69

6/30: 95/68

7/01: 93/66

7/02: 94/67

7/03: 85/72*

7/04: 102/71

7/05: 86/69*

7/06: 98/74

7/07: ?

7/08: ITS OVER!!!

*indicates clouds/convection made forecast highs bust some 10-12F.

DETROIT MOSUNNY 84 73 69 SW6 29.91R HX 90

6HR MIN TEMP: 78; 6HR MAX TEMP: 84;

Detroit hadnt even come close to any record warm mins this entire heat spell, but todays 78F would break the daily record of 76F, however it should get cooler than that before 1159pm. Heatwaves in recent years, with humidity, not to mention UHI, have been much more impressive with gawdy overnight lows than at any point during this one.
