Haha yeah I was out watering earlier when it was still thundering. Probably looked crazy at the time but I knew we weren't gonna get squat at that point. Most of the guidance had storms decaying well east of the MS river, but in reality they started shitting the bed way before that while still in east Iowa.

Was just thinking about when we’d see the next EF5. I had heard / read some criticisms that the NWS essentially redefined the damage necessary to classify a tornado as an EF5 as to be almost impossible. Basically it was stated that many historic EF and F5’s would be an EF4 with the new survey methods employed. Don’t know how valid that is, but the arguments I saw made sense in context and with examples. A few of the EF4’s since Moore would probably have been an EF5 with the less strict survey methods.

dumped windows 10. had enough of the constant window update problems, virus crap, and bogging down with new software updates. Hate paying for windows software like word powerpoint etc. Went to linux mint back in 2015 and never looked back. My 12 year old computer with 16 gigs of memory hums like kitten. No viruses, runs quick as hell and use linux mint libre software for free. Updates on its own with nothing running in the background loading up to and and the updates are downloaded on my time, not windows. Major updates are free and best of all no virus checkers. Linux is king.

Was a pretty intense night of storms. Had a QLCS train over the area with three main cores hitting us. The third was the strongest. Giving us about a 10 minute period of 65+ mph winds with a few stretches of 70+. Also heavy rain, the backyard is a lake now

Seems like these warnings in Wisconsin were all about wind threat and no tornadoes

Some flooding in Gardner MA earlier. Meanwhile, one town over, not a drop here.

The potent evening storms passed just nw and east of Cedar Rapids, so I only got some gusty wind and a bit of rain. My daily rain total is 0.82".

I accidentally left the heat on in my car from this morning and when I turned it on this afternoon I roasted…but briefly. I switched it to AC

Same street. Iowa has gotten smoked this month. It's as if someone has a beef with Iowa.

Can we at least wait for the surveys to get in? And also, yes this tornado will get EF4+. We can have the other debate when it's finalized.
