Central PA Spring 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread
TheDreamTraveler replied to Voyager's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
100% can't stand how much Ryan Hall just clickbaits all the time to drive views. Because that's mostly what youtube and social media has devolved into. I've actually left comments sometime just blatantly explaining it to viewers because it's frustrating. Andy I actually knew him from elsewhere before knowing he was on his channel since he does video game streams but he's like the only genuine one there who's not in it for the money and hype/fear mongering. But yeah I do not like watching Ryan because of what he does. It's very important not to drive people into a frenzy -
Wow just got hit with a tornado warning, basically going straight into Sterling LWX office.

Central PA Spring 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread

Yeah, I don't know. Ryan is pretty universally considered the number one doomcaster. If you ask Ai to name you the top doomcasters, you should get a pretty universal answer. Both Max and Ryan came up in the top five every time. Professional mets seem to agree. What anyways, man, it's really not something I care about that much. But he has changed the way everyone else has to present the weather and it's not for the best. -
Fronts are a boundary between two or more air masses. There are four basic kinds of fronts. One, warm front fronts, two, cold fronts, three, stationary fronts, and lastly, occlusion fronts. These types of fronts can bring a variety of different types of weather patterns depending on which air mass dominates the other. Fronts can be associated with lift in the atmosphere which are required for cloud formation, active weather patterns, and precipitation. The interaction between two or more air masses can affect the structure of clouds. For example, warm fronts often bring a system of stratiform like clouds while cold fronts on the other hand bring narrow bands of clouds, including cumulonimbus clouds, which are responsible for producing thunderstorms, rain/hail, lightning, and tornadoes.

NAM had this look a couple days ago, and now has it back. Would have to thread the needle with timing. I’m on a work trip, so book it! :-) -

Loudoun County public schools (for now) is NOT dismissing early, will hold students if its' not safe at regular dismissal time. Home | Loudoun County Public Schools (text) We are closely monitoring the severe weather forecast for our area later today. As you may know, weather systems like this can change quickly in timing and intensity, making it challenging to predict exactly when the worst conditions will arrive. At this time, we are NOT planning an early dismissal; however, we are canceling all after- school activities and programming across campuses and administrative offices. Current forecasts suggest that the strongest conditions could occur during the window when buses would be transporting students home if we dismissed early. Out of an abundance of caution, we do not want to risk buses and student drivers being on the roads during potentially hazardous weather. We are staying in regular contact with local emergency management and reviewing the latest forecasts throughout the day. If conditions were to become unsafe at the end of the school day, we will hold students at school until it is safe to release them. We will provide families with updates if this occurs. Our priority is always the safety of our students and staff, and we would rather delay dismissal than send buses and families into dangerous conditions. We will continue to keep you updated throughout the day if anything changes.

The radar looks a lot better than the ground truth here. We got moderate rain for about 15 minutes and light rain now. A couple rumbles of thunder. Sounds like the good stuff is to my southeast.

E PA/NJ/DE Spring 2026 Obs/Discussion
The Iceman replied to PhiEaglesfan712's topic in Philadelphia Region
I would be surprised if we see widespread severe now. The stuff from last night is beginning to re intensify and is likely going to come into our area early this afternoon but there just isn't going to be instability in place. The best dynamics are in place after that but this afternoon stuff is going to sap all the instability and moisture. Maybe some gusty winds still with the front passing through but it continues to look less and less interesting here. Will still be a significant temp drop at least. -

Second warned line moving through in a few. Brief rotation down by Martinsville but my area looks like straight line stuff at worst.

I am not familiar with the geography down there so I don't have much insight to provide. But does your school have good views in all directions? You really might not be in a bad spot.
